Hello everyone, just want to say thanks for all the time and work on the 7300 first and foremost.

Now, I seem to be having a sound issue as of yesterday for the whole system in general. whenever any type of sound starts from the device like menu clicks on android or an game starting I get a subtle click from the speakers/headphones like it's initiating the audio drivers, I hear the click again when audio is paused or stopped and a faint noise before the click happens when audio is stopped (same noise when turning speakers high on a computer)

i'm not really sure what to reinstall exactly to fix this, it's definitely a software issue and not the hardware speakers as it happens with headphones aswell. I haven't tested all the emulators yet since this problem so I fear the audio drivers won't kick in when something is loaded (menu clicks don't happen the first touch when there's no audio in the background for instance)

I noticed the same thing, it's more apparent when you use the headphones. A faint popping noise every couple of seconds.

I also getting an android.process.failure popup as well..Whilst the ROM is better than the YumCha JXD one, it still has a few bugs and glitches.

the pop noise in headphones is in all roms i hear it, some people don't. I don't hear it without headphones. haven't found the cause of the pop itself. and it only happens when the audio driver is in standby.

Did you enable the usb debug mode in Settings > developer options?

If yes, try another microUSB cable, I had problems connecting my device with the stock one.

Thanks for the answer.
The thing is it can be connected for data transfer, but ADB doen't list it (debug mode being ON).

OK So, I took it upon myself to do a small teardown and take some pictures. I have hosted the pictures on my own domain and they are BiG!
I then put some silver thermal paste to the penny (not much just a smidgen to help with the fact that the penny was not smooth.)

I did something similar last night, just for fun.

I had an old all-copper heatsink and cut one of the fins off. It was maybe 1cm thick. I cut it just slightly larger than the size of the CPU and applied thermal paste to both sides. There's some clear yellow tape inside the S7300, and I used a bit of that to secure the copper shim.

I didn't get to benchmark for very long, but it ran fairly smoothly at 1.3 (I'm running TheXSample-SXELROM v3.0).

I'll report back if there are any issues, but this mod is fairly simple. I'm actually thinking I'll redo it a bit and put the copper shim between the black insulating sheet and the metal cover/"heatsink".

For anyone that's done a mod like this, how well has it worked for you?

I went even mire overboard with this, I bought a thin copper sheet and created a new heatsink with that, it's even a bit bigger than the original one, I also had to mask the bottom of it with isolating tape because there was a short circuit when pressure was applied to the back of the device. Additionally I applied Thermaltake's thermal paste to the CPU, heat disipates much better with my solution, but the device still freezes from time to time, though I believe the reason for the freezes is software related instead of heat related

thats for sure... my device freezes mostly at booting or below 5 mins after boot up..  device probably never heats up in that time..

and device gets really hot when we play n64... but never freezes in that time..

I'm using the conservative governor provided by Damedus, also the freezes ussualy happen when using fpse or snes9x Ex and as Santo stated, the device doesnt get quite as hot as when using other games (Sims 3 for example, with that game Im sure my solution is working, becase the heat feels in a wider area and not as concentrated as with the default heat sink)

An excellent way to go!
Copper has much better heat transfer properties, so even if you insulate one side entirely you should still be transferring heat away from that chip much more efficiently than that paper thin stock piece of pot metal they use at the factory.

Sorry, I have 2 problems. First is HDMI connection is sporadic, keeps disconnecting. Second is, if I connect a mouse, the cursor is the jxd splash screen. Really annoying.

Do you get the lingering "preparing SD card" notification in the system bar on boot? If so try booting it with no SD card inserted then putting inserting one at the home screen.

Without a logcat it is unfortunately quite hard to determine what causes these freezes, since can't be reproduced and some people have them whilr+e some other don't.. You can try sxelrom or stock to see if freezes disappear. It's quite random
