I prefer the stock one.

I've changed the system partitions so that now the internal storage is named FLASH and the microsd is SDCARD (instead of external_sdcard). I think this config is better, but there is one bug, this units are not shown in the settings/storage option, so we cannot know the space available. However, everything is running fine so need to use LinktoSD or apps like that. Partitions are shown well in Root Explorer (remaining space available too).

But i need your opinion. Do you prefer this partition config? (like In Gingerbread) or do you prefer the stock one? (with sdcard/external_sdcard)

I'd like to know what you prefer.

Did you edit the vold.fstab? I prefer external mapped as the regular sdcard, too many games need lots of extra SD space

Skelton, We bet you to make a video to show how you customize the Roms for JXD S5110. With both the video and written instruction, people will find it more easier to flash the S5110.

Yes, but I needed to edit init.rc inside the kernel (extracting the boot.img file), because only with void.fstab is not enough. Maybe I include this as an option since most people prefer the stock one (I prefer the other config though).

Willgoo, once the custom is ready, I can make a video to show the installation process. (although is realy simple) :)

Is there a way to correct/remap the shoulder+button combo that gives Start button code and makes snes games that use it unplayable, thank you.

I'm afraid this can be a hardware issue. The same happens in the s601. Maybe you can try remapping the Start Button to another button (volume for example) and see if it works.

Hello,

I have a problem with my JXDS5110. After turning over the phone.apk with ESFileExplorer as root and an other file related to the phone function, I lost the activation of the Wifi! I wanted to delete these files to remove the standby GSM and gain autonomy. Unfortunately even the flash of the original firmware to 4.0 or 2.3 does absolutely nothing!
Can someone help me?

If you could fix the bug I'd prefer your way, otherwise I'm happy with the stock way.

@Dingoo, could you ask JXD if the Shoulder+Dpad combo sending that Start has been pressed is something they can fix in the firmware?
That really is a bad thing, makes some things unplayable so it's something they need to fix on the s5110 or if it's a hardware thing that can't be fixed they need to pay attention to on all future android consoles they make.

I would try to wipe data and cache and reflashing. But it seems strange,, since reflashing firmware everything should be as stock.

Sweetfa, I'll try to fix the bug, buy It seems an Android 4.0 issue, so I don't know if it can be fixable. Probably I'll keep the stock partitons and give the "alternative" modification as an option, since it really works ok, only with the issue of Android Settings/storage not showing the remaining space avaliabke in this Units, though can be seen using root explorer.

The shoulder dpad thing can mostly be fixed by mapping the s5110s "select" button to "start" in emulators and then either leaving the s5110s "start" button unmapped or map it to "select" (might break some games but they mostly don't use the select button outside of menus, title screen).

When you do the button combo the start button gets triggered in addition to the keys you pressed not instead of.  So it's not a huge problem it just means that the start button is kinda useless as you can't really have it mapped.

I'm betting that even if it's a hardware issue they can code a work around in the firmware.  Filter the inputs like. Something simple like:

if(shoulder_left && dpad_right && button_a){
  button_start = false;
}

Which would fix the problem but mean that if you actually press left shoulder, right, A and start at the same time then the system wont register that you pressed start.  I don't think there'd ever be any need to press all those buttons together anyway though

@skelton: thanks for your fast answer, but i've already wipe date/cache before flashing firmware. When i want to activate Wifi i can slide the YES/No button but it find nothing and if i retry to activate i have a force close issue !
I think too that flash must replace everything in stock but no way !

An other brilliant idea?
