Dont use Tanworks new firmware
« on: December 27, 2013, 10:39:42 am »
Hi All I suggest you don't use Tanworks new firmware.
Mines just bricked.

Loaded the firmware and it just hung on JXD flashing JXD logo.
Did try to go into recovery a few times but just stalled.

Now black screen no boot.

So don't use until he sorts it out.

I had the same problem. Doing a restore suing the Batch tool helped to restore it.

Ok I have mine up and running now doing a restore of the supercharged 2.0 img.

Tanwork has done a good job in stopping the units bricking.  ;D

It's been sorted out. Your device could not handle the new overclocked kernel and went to loop boot. I have provided several overclocked kernels so you may try which works best for you. Please follow my instructions
should you end up soft bricking your device again.

SUPERCHARGED v2.2.1 - CWM UPDATE 2013/12/27 URGENT FIX !!!

- Removed overclocked kernel update from CWM to avoid soft bricking. Some s7800B1.4 users have reported
soft bricking due to severe instability resulting from overclocked speeds. If you have managed to soft brick
your device, reboot to bootloader mode by using a pin to click the "Reset" button and pressing the "Volume Up"
button at the same time. RKbatchTool should detect your device. Choose the stock kernel image and install by
  clicking "Upgrade".

- Fixed voltage regulation spikes, reduces reboots upon device wake-up for unstable devices.
- Deactivated cellular radio and GSM software, less power consumption.
- Stock Jellybean boot animation.
- All SUPERCHARGED v2.1 fixes included.

--------- NEW OVERCLOCKED KERNEL ---------> Requires RKbatchTool to install.

- Overclocked speeds now visible and active on s7800B1.4 devices.
- New kernel supports initial and current batches of s7800Bs.
  (Thanks to JXD)
- Please see the "PRESET OVERCLOCKED KERNELS" section for overclocked kernels instructions & links.

Any chance anyone could provide a working link to the over clocked kernels as the link in the main post points to an iLivid download which I can't use.

Cheers...

for the author of this thread.

always when you install any new firmware (stock or custom), i advice to you to read the complete documentation of this, and know what you?re installing, and how to install and, in many cases, how to solve common issues.

is usual that some devs brings new custom firmwares with overclocked options (CPU, GPU, DDR, etc), but not all these oveclocking options are suitable for all devices.

use ALWAYS the most common choice for installing on your device, and then test other alternatives. NEVER install the most aggressive kernel/overclock option, because there are so much chances that this will not work with your device.

and, as personal advice, i don?t see the need of overclocking devices. currently, you can play most of android and emulated (success emulated) catalog with any 1.4 Quad-Core device, and most dual-core devices with optimal firmware.

for TanWorks, i did not tested your firmware until now, because i?m centered on other devices, but i will install and test for helping users with this kind of problems in the forums i frequent visit. My advice is, if you?re installing by default a overclocked firmware, i think is preferible on working with default clock firmware at first chance, and then let the users test other kernels if they wants (always can flash other kenrels for testing, without flashing all the firmware on the device)

anyway, thanks for you efforts on improving this (forgotten by their manufacturer) device.

Zalu2!
