Anyone tried replacing the internal SD card on the JXD 7800?
« on: January 11, 2014, 11:06:12 am »
I know you can use a Micro SD down the bottom, but it's a pain having to use folder mount or some other data moving app. Anyone tried to replace the internal HD, is it even possible? Would be good to replace the internal with a 32GB card.

Internal is a chip, theoretically it could be changed but highly impractical

It's probably surface mounted, so you'd have to have a very steady hand on the soldering iron to replace it.

Yep there is a space for one more.
I looked in mine.

I think there is a Russian unit that has 16Gb.

You would have to place the same IC as the one that's in there.

not that easy. as someone said it is surface mounted so there is that. New chip would have to be pin compatible and you would probably need the firmware to recognize the added memory. seems it would be easier to use swap and a big ext sd card.

I'm having problems with the folder mount app (computer doesn't recognize internal memory after I use it) Is there any alternative apps that do the same thing?

Hey Crispy, What's tans firmware? Is it just a OS upgrade? Do you have a link/instructions?

Cheers

it is soldered surface mount on the pcb...and there are open pins right next to it where they (could) have mounted another one, my question is for the b model why didnt they add it?....oh yeah and the vibration motor has a spot and circuits to run it already installed

you're shittin me.. it's already got a spot ready to accept a motor?

have you tried this? that would be very nice, I think i've got a few extras laying around from some old phones.. and controllers.

you would'nt happen to have a picture of this would you?

im not BS'ing you in any way i do not have photos yet....but i can be persuaded into re opening my 7800b tomorrow to photograph both the motor slot and the secondary memory slot they didnt use for the nand.

as well as my (so far crude due to testing) fix for the usb charging

also i havent experienced any issues with my right analog stick, the only issues i have faces are 1. the google play app compatability and the cpu 1.605 limit (which ive learned to deal with for now) superuser seems to have sorted itself out and i can tune the clocks and remove unwanted app and cell standby, i use go launcher hd to fix the app icon issue (plus it has down swipe for ram cleaner) and my charge pin came unsoldered (which led to my usb mod after fixing)

The empty slot is surely there.. in fact the Russian version is sold with 16GB (and it is as simple as adding an extra chip in the empty slot). :)
buttmachine: can I ask you to give a look at the attached photo ? This is the opposite side of the PCB of my right joystick.
At first check I did not see anything strange.
Looking this morning magnifying the photo I have a doubt about the solderings next to the screw.
What do you think ? Could they be cold solderings ?
thanks

My apologies man i swore to god it was this one but i guess lack of sleep made me assume it was the 7800

unfortunately i was a dumbass and forgot where i saw the motor mounting point it was on a different machine.

however i did solve the usb hardwire issue for charging.

also if i were to buy another 7800B where could i find it with the other 8gb on board or would it be easy to add the chip myself?

also this forum doesnt support high res photos so i cant post anything
