[S602B] New Firmware Question
« on: May 21, 2015, 03:52:49 am »
Hey everyone. I've always lurked on this site looking for information on interesting handhelds. I have a Caanoo, A320 Dingoo, and an S7800b. Recently I was trying to decide between getting a GCW Zero or S602b. I found an S602b for a very good price so I went with that.

Now that I have it, I'm wanting to update the firmware. I saw that there is a custom firmware from several years ago, but I saw that JXD released an updated firmware very recently at this link: http://www.jxd.hk/download.asp?id=1220&selectclassid=020001 . I'm wondering if anyone has tried the firmware they posted, and if it's better to upgrade with their firmware, or if I should go ahead with putting Naxeras CFM on my S602b.

Do you have monocore or dualcore version of JXD S602B?
Naxeras custom script works only with S602A and S602B monocore.

How can I verify if it's mono core or dual core? I bought it second hand so there was no box.

It looks like I have the monocore 602b. I updated the firmware using JXD's english site, and it works a lot faster than whatever was on it before. I had put Naxeras's custom rom, and it worked but then I got the battery problem. Once I updated it though with JXD's latest firmware it fixed the problem but I lost Naxeras custom rom. Now I'm wondering if I should try putting it back on.

I should add that I got the battery problem after I had put on the V70 firmware that the directions listed, before I put on Naxeras Rom. After successfully putting on Naxeras rom I still had the battery problem.

What kind of battery problem do you have?
As far as I know v70 firmware just for 602A version. And there are two versions of Naxeras script for A and mono B versions.

The system was acting like my battery wasn't charged at all even though I know it was fully charged (I read several people had this problem when the S602 first came out). I don't have the battery problem anymore after I installed the latest JXD firmware from their site, JXDS602B20130329-V77. Everything seems to be good now.
