[S7800B]Hardware buttons A+B are the same
« on: November 29, 2013, 01:09:30 am »
I just received my 7800b yesterday and right away updated firmware to the latest. 1.1.4 I believe. This fixed the SU binary problem and I thought I was set but it seems that the hardware buttons a and b are not working properly. If I press A, both a and b are pressed and vice versa. Same results with jxd key mapper and also tincore. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm also on 1.1.4 and that doesn't happen to me. The buttons act separately.

VEEERRY bad soldering.

But I agree seems the most likely cause.

You really shouldn't have to do this but if you don't mind taking your unit apart it sounds like a easy check and fix.

you could also have something metallic stuck between the PCB and silicon membrane..

QC at JXD must be horrendous.. worse then I would have guessed even for a Chinese company.

one person had a unit ship to them without a camera, not a bad camera.. NO camera.

I've had issues with my unit also.
not to mention all the lousy chargers burning up.

You know,  now that you mention it, when i received the unit,  the case on the right was unhinged. I had to snap it back into place when i opened the package. Thought that maybe customs had opened it. I'll take a look inside. Thx for the suggestion.

I've opened it up and wiped the board and made sure the buttons were hitting the right contacts. I didn't have the guts to get under the board where the problem mite be. A bit beyond my comfort zone. I'll contact Wilgoo and see what they say. Anyone else have this problem and/or solutions?

did you remove the silicon membrane that sits on top of the PCB?

Shoudl just "sit' on top not attached usually.

It sounds like the source should be right at the button otherwise i'd guess you'd have a constant button press 24/7 if it s was a crossed wire up the stream.

this is only my best guess though.

Hi all.

Same failure for my jxd 7800.

I think is a hardware fail, but I have opened it, revised, and I do not estimate anything rare.
PCB at buttons zone seems ok. I don?t see strange objects in the contacts.

I have visually checked only the pcb buttons zone.

Debugger imput in retroarch is what I have used to verify. It shows on screen buttons events and id?s.
"A + D" buttons show the identity 100 on having touched them in retroarch. Keytest shows same press for both buttons.
I don?t know if JXD know anything of the problem.
Please alert me if you discover something.

Sorry for my english. Regards.

Finally got a reply back from Willgoo. They told me to update firmware.  I guess I was lucky to even get a response.

couldn't hurt but I doubt they'll fix it.

Good luck and let us know if it fixes it.

I've been in contact with Wilgoo and they told me to take it to an electronic repair shop to fix. Attempting to iron out the details. They take forever to reply and its in short, vague and broken English. They haven't even mentioned anything about a replacement or refund. I've already updated firmware to the latest, although, thinking of trying the custom 114 overclock. Anyone have any dealings with Wilgoo regarding returns or replacements?

Why does willgoo still retain that trusted reseller tag when they've shown several times that they don't honor the warranties on the products they sell.

Someone with knowledge of electronics to say that type of pcb is this? Any ideas how to arrange this soldering failure?  ???

Based on that one picture alone, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that portion of the PCB.  However, they continue on their way through the rest of the PCB for quite a ways.  You'd have to flip the PCB over and see where those small holes lead and follow the traces to whatever processor they end up at.

FIXED.

Is a hardware fail, I have opened it, and deep unmount for new test and revision.
PCB, ribbon flex, and flex conectors are a bit sulphated.

I?ve fixed with alcohol and cotton swabs.
