[KERNEL ONLY] Power/Sleep FIX for JXD S7800B (RK3188-T)
« on: October 14, 2014, 12:00:05 pm »
Here is the extracted kernel.img from the Webclaw Special 2GB rom that fixes the power/sleep fix that happens on the RK3188-T variants of the JXD S7800B.  Extracted using the dump tool in Rileys rom.

I have flashed this over CM11 and it has solved the power/sleep issue  :)

I haven't tested on other roms yet or tested if CM11 fully works but thought I would share the news, kernal and flash tool here so people can try for themselves and report back which other roms it works with/doesnt work with and bugs etc.

Thanks for share it, GRiM.

Could I know how much score Antutu shows for CM11 in your device?

Thanks for this, worked for me. i had the problem with all fw available (official or not).

tested and working in MAETEL PROMETHEUM CUSTOM FIRMWARE FOR S7800B UPDATE 1 JXD LAUNCHER

curiosity: i bought my 8gb model from jxdofficial dot com, but i noticed that came with a custom fw, not the oficial one. i remember that was signed with v1.5 from middle of 2014 (june maybe). that fw was troubble with 3g dongle, random on/off signal.

thanks !!!!

For emulations you don't need a visual mapper, you can always do it thorugh emulator options menu.
For other games, yes, Tincore.

Hi man. Thanks for sharing this. My s7800b has this Power/Sleep issue.
I've downloaded the tool you provided. But, when I try to flash the kernel, it says "MSC device can't do upgrade".
I do this:

1) Connect my s7800b to my computer.
2) I turn on USB storage.
3) I run the ROM_Flash_Tool_137
When the program starts, on the lower part it says "Found RKAndroid Mass Storage USB. Should it say anything different?
4) I only leave kernel selected.
5) Find the path to kernel.img
6) Click on Flash ROM.

Then I get the error message I told you about.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!!

Why is mass storage enable?, I think it shouldn't.
Steps to replace kernel are here described.

Anyway, I'd recommend to try Lujji's kernel

You dont use mass storage you use bootloader mode.

Hi first post here, wanted to ask, I'm having trouble flashing just the kernel, it seems like an impossible task for me. Some background:

1. I'm using Win 8.1 so the RockUSB drivers were a huge problem. After much searching and tinkering, I managed to find a hack which allowed the RockUSB to function over USB3.0 in Win 8.1
2. With the hack, I managed to install the Prometheum firmware but like most people with RK3188-T, it developed the sleep bug
3. Tried this method to flash and it reads everything ok (I used bootloader, etc) and I triple checked all the settings and up to the point of flashing the kernel, everything reads ok.
4. However, when I try to flash the kernel, it always develops an error to download the kernel.

My question is, is this because I'm using Win 8.1 hacked usb drivers? The hack forces me to use ONLY USB3.0, I can't use my USB2.0 port and I'm wondering where the problem is. If there's any other way for me to flash the kernel, that would be great as well. Thanks in advance, appreciate any feedback from anyone

Hi there, thanks for the info, do you mean I should try flashing again once changing in SetCPU? Cuz I've tried it and it didn't work for me, still have the deep sleep issue. Thanks for your time

Is it possible to use one of those fixed kernels on a 16GB unit? I know customs ROMs are a no go, but I'm not sure about the kernels.

Yes, kernels will work fine in 16GB version, all S7800B hardware is the same.

Okay, I managed to get myself a Windows 7 machine to test it out and it worked perfectly on the Windows 7 machine. This confirms that even if I did the USB3.0 hack to make the device detectable on a win8.1 and firmware upgradeable, the hack doesn't seem to work for kernel updates.

Just to confirm, I have the 16GB RK3188-T and I can confirm the Prometheum and WebClaw firmware works on it and so does the kernel. I used Lujji's kernel and everything works smoothly. Firmware installed using a win8.1 over USB3.0 and kernel on win7 over USB2.0  ;D

Thanks for all the info, I've managed to resolve all my issues with the JXD through the handy resources here on the forum over 5 days of heavy reading and testing without bricking the JXD even once. Now my S7800B is awesome :) time to get me a 32gb card
