News items link to forum topic

Any way to have the news items link directly to an appropriate forum topic instead of comments?

Currently the news is done with Wordpress 2.8.4, and the boards are done with SMF 1.1.10.

I looked at finding plugins to link them, but the best I could come up with is using SSI.php from SMF to display some board information on the news page.

I could probably make the frontpage display items from a "News" subforum, so that it looks like Wordpress posts on the news page, and then have the "comments" links go straight to the thread.

It would certainly be easier than having the News Staff remember two seperate sets of login credentials.

I'll consider it. Right now I've got a lot on my plate with working through my bug list, and cleaning up the SMF code enough for the new board layout/design.

Okay you sparked some curiosity in me, and I've now tested how good the SSI.php functions are for pulling posts from a single thread; it was a success. I'll be moving from Wordpress to SMF powered page very soon ;D
