Thoughts on DOSBOX & GoG Gaming
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:38:18 am »
Hello! I just recently discovered this incredible device, and I'm currently in the process of justifying my purchase of one. I've been out of touch with PC and console gaming since my son was born, so I had to resort to primarily playing mobile games on my iPhone since it was convenient. Now, with the GPD Win, I'll finally be able to get back into PC games (I've missed a lot!). Anyway, back on topic. LOL! I grew up playing lots of dungeon crawlers like Eye of the Beholder, Wizardry, Lands of Lore and Might & Magic. When Good Old Games (GoG) came about, it was my go-to source for reliving my childhood favorites. I'm assuming the GPD Win would be absolutely perfect for playing these old dungeon crawlers, but I can't seem to find any DOSBOX videos of it on YouTube. Please share your experiences and videos (if available) regarding classic DOS games that work well. Thanks! :D

Awesome! Thanks for the reply! Did you need any 3rd party software to use tbe controller, or did the GPD Win just work?

The controller has a mouse mode which maps to the following:
The dpad is wasd
The face buttons are the arrow keys
Right analog is mouse
Left analog is mouse wheel
L1/L2 are LMB
R1/R2 are RMB
L3/R3 (not that you need these) are Numpad 1/2

Or you can always use it in DirectInput mode for older games that support a gamepad.

Hello everyone! Being that this post is pretty old, I'm figuring that there may be some more DOSBox experiences by now. Please post up any and all with videos if available. :D I'm really into old dungeon crawlers, but I'd also really like to know how well it handles games like Legend of Grimrock 2 and Might & Magic X. Thanks in advance!
