Gpd win powers on but won't boot
« Reply #15 on: March 17, 2017, 09:37:02 pm »
The external keyboard trick doesn't seem to really work anymore. I can still use the micro hdmi to tv to get a display but Now when it boots into the EFI shell and I try and type exit it goes to the bios, and it won't go past it. Under boot options EFI is the only one listed not sure what's happened here.

I would try resetting the bios. If that doesn't work, flash the 10/25 bios and see if that helps.

I think I did try and reset and nothing happened. How do I flash the 10/25 bios?

Update......so I have tried to reinstall windows using the media creation tool, but for some reason gpd win does not see my hard drive any more, maybe I need drivers for it??? For some reason during this entire process the system hard drive just disappeared.

You flash the 10/25 bios from within Windows. It has instructions in the file.

I would try clean installing Windows from a USB stick (created with the media creation tool)... did you do that?

No, the drivers for the drive should be built into Windows.

Yea tried the windows media creator, it is not  seeing a hard drive. Doesn't show up in the bios either.

And you mean you tried it from a USB stick, right?

Also, did you try the 10/25 bios yet?

Yea, I tried to do a fresh install but it is looking for a driver for the HDD because it can't see it. I tried downloading all the gpd win drivers on another USB but it doesn't see any of those. I'm thinking this unit is done.

Have you used the GPD Win windows recovery image to reflash Windows?
That has all needed drivers for the GPD Win included.

You can grab it here.

Update.....I extracted every actual driver from its folder and left a big mess of random drivers, I tried selecting all of them one at a time, still nothing that will show me a drive. Anyone know the name of the gpd win storage driver?

Mmm what ED means, there's this GPD Win 10 OS image, sizing in about a gig or two IIRC, by using that, all the drivers were pre-installed, so you won't need any drivers for it.

I think it's this one :
https://mega.nz/#F!NcBVQBDA!FK2jal9K57DU5LzRnPDJAQ

You need to download both, extract them into a USB flash, and boot from it.

The instruction is within the rar files too.

I've did a reinstall using those, and no need for any drivers afterwards.

That image is also ready to be downloaded from the link I sent you, probably easier to download.
