Factory Restore of GPD Win???????
« on: December 22, 2016, 04:28:08 am »
Anyone know how to do a Factory Restore of the GPD Win?????? Tried Installing and Running a Game and lets just say that now, I can not get past the Loading Screen due to a Signature not being able to be Verified. This is after I Updated to the Anniversary Edition.

This is what I get when I try to Start up my GPD Win now after trying to get Blazing Angels 1 Installed and Running. Was recommended to Install the Anniversary Edition of Windows 10

OK...........apparently if a Game Disk contains either StarForce or SecureDisk Windows 10 will crap itself because they are not Digitally Signed, and apparently Microsoft does not agree with those types of Disk Security. So anyway, if you get into what I did, you will need to:
Create some type of Windows 10 Recovery Media. Go to Microsoft's Website and get the MediaCreationTool.exe
    - For some reason it will not Detect USB Drives. So yeah, download the ISO. However, you can then Mount the ISO, then Drag ALL the Files inside and place them into a EMPTY USB Drive.

Now when you get the Error like I did, go and press the Windows Button..........
When you now get into the BIOS Screen, go all the way to the Save and Exit Screen but go to the USB Drive and Boot that.

When you get to the Windows 10 Setup Screen you will not have the Mouse and it will be in Portrait Mode. Fun I know. But go to the Next Button with the Tab Button. The Next Screen will show the Install. But GO TO THE BOTTOM LEFT!!!!!

On the next Screen go to TroubleShoot. Next Screen go to Advance Options. Now go to Command Prompt. Here is where the fun begins. You need to type in the following one at a time

DEL c:\windows/system32\drivers\sfvfs02.sys
DEL c:\windows\system32\drivers\sfsync03.sys
DEL c:\windows\system32\drivers\sfdrv01.sys
DEL c:\windows\system32\drivers\sfhlp02.sys

Once you do this, simply type Exit and go to Shut Down PC. Now when you Start it up again, you should be good to go. But would suggest getting a Program to finish removing any and ALL SecureDisk or StarForce Programs/Files.

I've now added a full recovery image for download on the product page:
https://www.dragonbox.de/en/475-gpd-win-gpd-win-4260416650442.html

(Find the download at the bottom).

Extract it onto an NTFS-Formatted stick (the stick name has to be WINPE) and boot from it.
Detailed instructions are included in the ZIP file.

This lets you recover the GPD Win to a factory delivery state, regardless what you played around with :)

Might need to get that Posted to a DL Site. Tried it 2x and it went only to 400MB then got up to 6-700MB the 2nd time. If anything, Could use MegaUpload but Split it in 2 or 3 in need be.

Oh, that's weird... Resuming isn't working for you as well?

Hmm, the shop uses a PHP downloader, maybe that's the issue.
I can also put it directly on my site, with pure HTTP it should work fine, including resume.

Using IE to get it. Apparently it keeps getting Interrupted hence why Chrome cant complete it.

Edit: Nope. Showing it is Completed around 662MB but Errors when Opening saying Unexpected End of Archive

I downloaded it without issues yesterday on chrome.

Might want to use a download manager e.g. DownThemAll on firefox, I fall back to that on problematic downloads if I ever get some.

For easier downloading including resume, you can now go to:

https://www.dragonbox.de/Downloads/GPD%20Win/

You can also use the public FTP server dragonbox.de (anonymous login) to grab the files :)

Hope this helps everybody :)

It should say on the Disk or the Cover. But I think there are a few Disk Ripping Tools that can make a Image of the Disk but remove the Security Feature or Emulate it but not have the undesirable problems that come with it.
@EvilDragon : Was able to get the Recovery Files :D . Now just need a 8GB Thumb Drive specifically for it

Hello I just got my GPD Win today (used) and I would like to do a factory reset does this recovery image include the anniversary update? Apparently this device came with it already installed and I would like to keep it that way. Or if this recovery image is not with the anniversary update should I just update it manually to that. Well I guess its gonna update to creators update know that thats out.
