Q9 PSV new batch

There is a different batch of q9 coming to stores according to GPD, in fact some people have received these new units instead of the GPD q9 "standard" model.

Basically the main change is that they have replaced the crap analogs and now they put the same analogs as X_D.

Also, the firmware is different, you cannot use Q9 firmware or my LEGACYROM because they are NOT compatible with it.

I put a couple of pictures (pictures belong to sergioparidas user from elotrolado.net spanish forum).





I have made a version of the LegacyROM for this batch, just check the LegacyROM thread.

Kind of getting turned off of GPD devices. I just got my Q9 then they come out with the XD and the Q9 with the better analog sticks. This and the shody workmanship on my D-Pad I'm quite disappointed.

thats business though, especially in a small niche market.  Shoddy parts aside, you can only hope that lessons learned result in better devices each revision or generation.  Its a coin flip on when to buy.  If you're always waiting for the best thing, then you'll never get anything.  I fully expect even immediately better batches of XDs to start shipping only weeks after my preordered unit arrives.  As long as it lasts until the next faster SoC gaming device that has the form factor im looking for, its still win, even if they end up shipping OLED dual screen XDs in 6 months :)

Although it's bad that previous customers have an inferior product it's not productive to criticise them for improving their existing lines, they've corrected the main problem people have with the Q9 so that's a good thing for a Chinese company. Usually they ignore criticism like that but at least this time GPD are listening to their customers, I do think they should maybe announce it earlier so people know to wait though.

I missed it, the pics are gone does anyone have links to new pics? I definitely want one. Did they simply replace the nubs with gpd xd analog caps..or is it the full analog stick of the xd that is put in along with R3 l3?

I dont think those are analog sticks, they seem to be the same old nubs just with the Gpd xd  stick caps (thers is no curve and its sunken in) on closer inspection they are not sunken in so all that is needed is confirmation that they are real curved analog sticks not just the upper caps of the XD

If you look in the forum, you see that he has done the mod himself. I am not sure what is going on here. because on the site of GPD it does say something about a new joystick

Internal connection must be different from standard q9 because they changed GPIO setups and firmware for this batch. But I don't know. In a spanish forum some people already have it and they claim they work very good, but no idea if they work as good as in XD, because I never had the chance to test an XD unfortunately.
