The new device has been revealed but would cool if there was also more devices coming. Does anyone have news? A five inch version of the Q9 would be great.

It doesn't seem that there will be a 5 inch device by GPD, at least not soon. Seems q9 is their only new device, but no idea.

The q9? As far as I know it's basically like q88+ with RK3288 and 2 GB of ram.

It would be awesome if GPD moved from their focus from their old designs to this new design we see from Q88+ and this new Q9. It would be cool if they in time release a 5 inch version of the Q9 AHHHH that would be sick!

Wouldn't the g7 chassis be more gamer pro?

I personally prefer G7 mold, except they should include q88+ dpad. However, I have the impression that people buy device more because how they look like, rather than how good or comfortable are. I have read lot of people that they don't buy a g5a or g7 for instance just because they look ugly. But I personally don't change my g5a for any device at the moment.

I agree, and that is in part the reason why 5" consoles are disappearing...

That's exactly what i think. And i see many people posting the same thing over and over again. I mean, this is the most comfortable device i ever played. I never had any kind of trouble related to software comparing this to the dingoo, jxd, smartphone, etc.  It would be sad news if GPD dropped the G5A and G7 form factor for the G9. Nice specs, but the one piece dpad and sliders instead of analogs aren't a good combination.

I hope mr kelvin reads this.

I could also noticd that it's easy to open, right? It has screws, I think. This aspect might turn easy to replace a battery and/or screen.

Would be a shame, was hoping to pick up something like an RK3288 powered G5A (or if not available, G7A)

Is there any updated information about this?  This will be the next gaming tab I buy, if it ever comes out.  Seems strange that it dropped off the radar.

When I seen wilgoo advertise the red g5a for Xmas I had a suspicion that GPD were feeling out the market for it again but maybe I was wrong ,  it would be nice to see g7 and g5a form in better specs :(
Always piss downwind :)

It seems it is already listed in Taobao. Maybe it comes to other shops soon? Who knows...

By the way, I don't know If I will support firmware for this device, because I am pretty much retired from scene, and GPD people has not contacted me at all, so perhaps they are not interested in my work.

I understand and respect your decision Skelton, but that is unfortunate to hear.  The Q9 was going to be my next device after the 7800B.  I take it that the transition from the RK3188 to the RK3288 would require a significant amount of work to update your Legacy ROM to work with this device?  It's not to say that someone else won't come around and introduce their own custom work.  It's just that any ROM from the "Skelton brand" is a ROM you know you can trust.   ;)

I don't know if the transition would be too difficult, because I have never seen a Rockchip 3288 SDK. I know the main differences are in kernel because now they use a proper 3.10.0 kernel version with device tree, and another partition called resource.img. But apart from that, Rockchip is quite conservative and pretty close to "Nexus AOSP", so I don't think that development for RK3288 is difficult.
