Mega man x2 and x3
« on: October 02, 2014, 12:36:28 am »
I'm not sure why but even with the newest update to pocketSnes I can't get either X2 orX3 to work. I'm guessing it has to do with the extra chip Capcom put in the original games. Does anyone know of a workaround? Thanks in advance.

Mega Man X2 and X3 have been confirmed working by multiple users in the latest version of PocketSNES.

Where did you get this PocketSNES version, and what was it named?

@Nebuleon - I can't remember the exact name of the update, but it comes from the official GCW Zero page under the download section.

@Fluxchar - I haven't been able to download or try the link you sent, but I will when I get home from work.  Thank you so much for the help, and I will definitely let you know if it works.

By the way, I love the Zero. I've tried several emulators in the past, both on home console and handhelds, and the Zero has the most accurate emulation and best screen for retro games.  Wii would be a close second.  I don't know why people are so in love with the PSP; very inconsistent emulation, especially on SNES games and an absolutely atrocious dpad.  The only thing it's good for is PSX emulation, IMO.  Anyhow, thanks guys.

@Fluxchar - I tried it and it looks like it's doing the same thing as the latest pocketSnes update from the official website.  With both X2 and X3 the game will boot, stating that there is an error.  Then when the game itself starts I can see the background, but none of the sprites in the foreground-- You can't see X or any of the enemies.  Any other ideas??

Did you delete the old pocketsnes versions (opk files) before copying the new one on your GCW?
Did you also delete all the old config files from pocketsnes?

I did delete the old PocketSnes OPK files before putting the new one in, but I didn't delete the old config files from pocketsnes.  Actually, I'm not sure what the config files are or where they're located.  Help?  Thanks.

go to /media/data/local/home/.snes96_snapshots and delete:

- all the .OPT files
- all the .DAT files

EDITED.

Grrr....  Tried deleting all .opt and .dat files and it still seems to be functioning about the same.   :(

maybe your roms are wrong. Try redownloading them from a different site.

Hi-ban -

I downloaded the ROMs from a different site and they work.  You were totally right; something must have been wrong or outdated in the original X2/X3 ROMs I used.  Anyway, thanks.  Now I'm rocking Megaman X2 on my GCW and I couldn't be happier.

Maybe the files got corrupted for some reason.
