PokéMini
« on: February 08, 2015, 10:18:12 pm »

Here's Pok?Mini, a Pok?mon Mini emulator.

This port is based on the latest 0.5.4 source code. It includes an open source bios so no bios is required to play. There are also lots of homebrew titles available for this system.

I have made a few changes to the original code. The gMenu is used, I have removed unnecessary menu options, triple buffering is enabled, configuration files are saved in the home directory and the IPU is used to allow fullscreen.

Please let me know if I anything doesn't work or is needed as I know very little about this machine.

Enjoy!

Thanks, David!

I added support for this console in EmulationStation earlier today. The fullscreen option is a great addition!
Dingoonity is the place to be!

Thanks a lot for the porting! :)

PS: let me know, if you need a background for a potential 2x video mode (192x128px) or similar! ;)

A small note about triple buffering: it's only useful if the emulator cannot reach 60fps. If it offers a steady 60fps on all games (which I suppose is the case here) then double buffering is better.

Justburn has released PokeMini version 0.6.
It seems like David Knight doesn't plan to update his port so i have decided to do it myself, using qemu.

EDIT: See my latest post for a better build.

Given that the new release was a little over 2 weeks ago and that you didn't ask me I don't think it's fair to state that I didn't plan to update my port.

For the record I'm happy to update all my ports, given that I currently have 20+ it's a little tricky to keep them all up-to-date whenever a new upstream version comes out.

I appreciate you may not have been able to test your release with the actual hardware but this version runs noticeably slower than the previous release. PM me if you wish to discuss this further as the release forum is not the best place to discuss code.

Don't upset David. He is the only chap visibly developing for GCW at this time.
And for that I'm very thankful for.

Why would I be upset? I'm grateful someone new is contributing to the scene ;D

Because the latest version was compiled without access to the hardware there's just a couple of issues to tweak but otherwise this is a great port.

After a few pm with David, we have found why it was slow.
According to David, it runs fullspeed.
Here are the new buids:
