Now all I need to know is: Can we play Virtua Racing on this thing? Via a Megadrive/32x emulator, of course!

if it runs on picodrive then it should do.. maybe qbert or another beta tester could confirm this?

What a coink-i-dink, just last week I was trying to remember when I first heard about GCW, and what had convinced me to put my money toward the project. Probably a combination of the post on the obscure handhelds blog and qbertaddict's videos.

I got some coming up. Just been busy. Got a wife and kid that I don't want to neglect  ;)
Don't forget the dog!   :P
Some might complain the it looks cheap
The only thing that ever made the GCW-0 look cheap was that piece of tape on the test unit in the early videos. What was up with that? Did it originally have a name that was copyright-infringing (or just plain embarassing) that you needed to cover up? Other than that, it definitely looks professional, on par with anything Nintendo has produced.
I play games on: Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, GBA SP, NDS Phat, NeoGeo Pocket Color, Panasonic 3DO, Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Nomad, Sega CDX w/Power Base Converter, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, PC, EGP1000, Dingoo A330, LetCool N350JP, and (soon) GCW-Zero SE.

I'll be very pleased if the Zero doesn't have a glossy finish as I think it makes things look cheap and tacky, causes distracting reflections and attracts fingerprints.  (Exhibit 1: my Dingoo!)

Given the choice, matt black would be my preference.

Matte black rubberized hard plastic would be sick.

The sorce code for the version of picodrive that supports 32x is not available so no 32x yet

im hoping the final product's case feels similar to a gameboy original  in texture and quality, and with a bit of heft to it, i like me some heft in my electronic gear, and yeah, matte finish definatly, not ruberized though cuz my ruberized plastic camera gets crap stuck all over it, its way worse then finger prints imo. and no case creaking, not even the slightest, i cant stand case creaks and moans. but i'll take what i'm given the fact it has great controls, a nice screen and perfect snes emulation seals the deal for me. that and the fact that even the prototype's case looks pretty decent as it is.
LONG LIVE TEAM GCW!!!

The Megadrive version is fine too, so not having 32x support isn't a big loss.

So is Justin busy flashing all the handhelds? If I remember correctly, the plan was for the shipments to arrive Monday and the flashing to begin late night.

I'd kinda like an update too. Maybe a picture of a garage full of GCWs... that reminds me, we haven't seen the final box/packaging yet, have we?

Where is the GCW team from as there has been a massive storm off the east coast of America (sandy) not sure if this would affect Justin's efforts....

I thought he was in Kansas City.. doesn't look like much severe weather there right now. But Sandy's effects are being felt far inland. Here by Lake Michigan we've been seeing 45mph wind gusts and 25-foot waves, some flooding too.
