Do we yet know who are the 4 winners of the console?
Yes, that was determined ages ago, the winners were all contacted.

I wonder if it would ever be possible to implement an online server with a friends list and matchmaking. Ah dreams dreams. Tbh I'll be happy if there's netplay functionality on any of the emus. Once we get our GCWs, we'll have so many games at our disposal. If only we had the networking and resources such as major handhelds like the 3DS and PSvita to seamlessly connect to one another.

The GCW devteam is currently busy with core functionality, however an idea of a matchmaking application with UDP holepunching for NAT traversal has already been discussed. Naturally this would be a major task and required all the main developers to focus on it. So this probably won't happen in the near future, at least not when there is still hardware/driver related stuff to do.

Keep in mind at this moment we don't even have a gui to set up the wifi connection. You need to modify a script to set your ESSID and WEP/WPA password. And that's only for setting up the connection. Each game has a different way of starting a net gameplay. Some expect you to pass the server ip as a commandline argument, some do the same from an in-game menu, yet another have a built-in server browser.

So we're still at the beginning here, need to face all these issues first. This was never done before as it's the first (second if you count Pandora) open handheld to have a built-in wifi and actually have games that support this functionality (unlike Wiz/Caanoo where the wi-fi dongle was a useless gadget).

On a side note, if we get USB OTG to work, I'd like to support USB networking connection to Dingoo A320 to play games with it (think of it like a USB link cable connection between the two devices).

It seems I have some bad news to report. We haven't heard any official word yet, but I don't think team GCW showed up for the Grassroots Gaming Expo.

I tried to surprise them by ordering some pizza delivered to Justin B for lunch and the delivery person called me back telling me that they're not there. Well, that's $25 down the sink. Enjoy the free pizza Grassroots Gaming Expo.

Maybe they're hard at work making that Tuesday shipping target. If so, at least I might get my Zero next week since I'm sure it's in the first 50 preorders.

Really?! That's good news, maybe Justin B just didn't make it then. When I ordered it, I gave them his name because they needed someone's name to ask for. When the delivery girl called back to say he's not there I asked her to leave it in care of the organizers there.

So maybe it did make it to the GCW booth... if so, enjoy guys! You're all doing fine work and I wanted to show my appreciation.

On the other hand, if the organizers kept the pizza- it was poisoned all along you fools!!! MwuaHahaha!!
