I would like to see this ported because it is a classic and it will be able to run on the hardware just fine.

It doesn't work this way. Can't make a port without the source code, sorry.

It doesn't work this way. You can't ask for a port because people do what they want ...And it's not tolerated here asking for something... :) :) :) People are so grumpy...

You don't understand, you need the source code of something if you want to be able to make anything with it.
No source code, no party.

While we're on the subject, Bub's Brothers would be pretty awesome on the GCW :-)

i have found the source code i think here ya go
http://unrealtournament2004.filefront.com/file/Unreal_Tournament_Source_Code;50393

Some people might have problems downloading from there. Here is a mirror:
http://coding.hanfling.de/launch/

However, i think that source is for windows. Not sure how much of it must be rewritten to work on linux (or if it can even be done). There was a linux open UT project (http://openut.sourceforge.net/info.php), but the sources are not online anymore.

EDIT: oh wait, there might be something here: http://openut.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/openut/

Protip: Complete source code of Unreal Tournament was never released. The above link contains small fragments of UT code (mostly headers) that were released by  Epic Games, Inc., I assume to ease up game modding. OpenUT was a project to coordinate this tiny fragment of released code. Quoting their readme:
Code: [Select]
2.5 What sources have been released?

At present, only the Linux sound and graphics rendering code.

Daniel Vogel summarised the source release as follows:

- most headers to Core / Engine
- source to
  - UTLaunch aka UnrealTournament executable
  - UCC (only a stub as it dlopens the Engine stuff)
  - Renderers
    - D3DDrv
    - GlideDrv
    - OpenGLDrv
    - XMesaGLDrv
  - Viewport Managers
    - XDrv
  - Sound (Linux part)

The OpenUT project does NOT have access to the generic renderer, the
game core, engine, server, editor, or software renderer.

So to sum up - this has absolutely no value for porting.

Nope. The only thing that could help is if you had worked in Epic Games and had a backup of their complete original UT99 source code.
