OpenDingux doesn't work on GameGadget, you should have known that. However, it is possible to use rootfs from OpenDingux with stock kernel. Search the forum, there was some info how to do that.

But it's possible to use stock linux for programming purposes, why do you want openDingux on it?

Wow, as far as I know OD works on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mCO9J3M99g
Or am I mixing up things?
Anyway, I would like a working OD on my GG, because its performance is better and its easier to add ROMs to.

But it's possible to use stock linux for programming purposes
How could I do that? The GameGadgets system is pretty closed, and they don't really share information about developing.
To be honest OD would be the best in my opinion.

You need Sandbox 0.95 package

Quote
Sandbox 0.95

Copy Thes files to your SD card insert into GameGadget and Hold 'A' Whilst booting.

The Sandbox will autorun a program or script called 'main' on the root of your SD card or you can telnet into your Gamegadget to issue commands manually.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/jrlq0b

Most probably, you'll be able to replace rootfs.bin with the opendingux one and it will run with gmenu2x. Then you can install a usual OD localpack and be happy.

EDIT: format your SD with standard cluster size and copy vmlinux.bin and rootfs.bin first, other files afterwards.

Okay, thanks for your help, now it's working!

I already wrote a small app, which displays the buttons and highlights which are pressed down.

Found this made using the gamegadget Developers Sandbox.

http://www.mediafire.com/?3upq9gt1jabb6sj

It includes :

Mame
Atari 2600
Gameboy / Gameboy Colour
Sega Megadrive
Sega master System
NEOGEO
SNES
NES
and a DOOM plugin.

Simply download and extract to a newly formatted SD card and add your roms into the ROMS Folder

Place in GameGadget and hold down 'A' whilst booting

Thanks, I found this useful.  I bought a Gamegadget back in January (for a bargain price of course!), but it didn't work. For a start there was no battery with it so I got a refund. My computer also refused to recognise it even when rigged upwith a mobile phone battery. The company I bought it from said it wasn't worth sending it back and I don't like chucking things away, so I tried the package and hey presto it actually gave my Gadget a bit of life.

After a few weeks it went kaput again and doesn't work at all. FUnny how the sanbox worked but my computer never recognised the machine in 'normal' mode so I could never play the 20 free games that you are supposed to be able to download.

If I remember correctly, the initial software was installed when you registered the Game Gadget. I'm sure the registration server is long gone by now.

You have to download their software application (like iTunes) ad then when you try to open it it asks you to plug your GG in to a USB port. I never got further than that as my computer wouldn't register it.

Just had a quick check and noticed the GG websight is still up. Can't believ they are still selling it!

I bought my GG this January and I could easily register it. (thou I'm not using the original firmware, OpenDingux is way better. The original one is unusable and the free games are low quality)

By the way I downloaded this pack which contained a pocketSNES optimized for GG, and it runs much better than the pocketSNES for OD, but the second one has menu and setting, while the gg_pocketsnes does not have anything (not even savestates.)
Does someone have a fully working and perfect SNES emulator? Between the 2 I have? I mean which does not flicker, runs smooth and has a small menu and capable of saving.

I installed the files to an SD Card and booted it up in SandBox mode but the screen just flashes a couple of times and goes to the screen that says "Gamegadget not activated", am I doing something wrong?

It sounds like you might be using an SD card that the system doesn't recognize. You need a fairly new SD/SDHC card.

I cant seem to get any bomberman games working on the snes emulator??? start button does nothing on it???? has anyone else had any luck with this???

Can we add additional emulators without having to install open dingux on the device and just keep the original SD card pack that was posted earlier?

I note the official Gamegadget has FINALLY been updated. Looks like they're just marketing it as the European Dingoo now and abandoning the official firmware.

A shame, it could have worked.

Well, it's ridiculous.
Now Blaze say it's 'open source handheld', but where are firmware sources?! I'd like to see them otherwise Blaze go to hell.

It's actually a Closed-Source console with ClosedDingux ;D and GMenu2X :o and they also added the Closed-Source game SQRXZ 3.  ::)

Yeah, I've seen it too. The date on the Xploder article (with the download link) is always the current date so at first I thought I was lucky to find it right on the release date. I don't know when did they actually release it. It gave me some hope but it's still not what I wanted. And they did not release the source of course...

(btw I still want to hack it and write a proper OS to it, I just don't have time right now :( )

Hi guys,

yesterday I bought this console and I got some issues already (yeah!)

I have a SanDisk 8GB card and downloaded the openfw from this thread (post above) and from  http://www.xploder.net/press-releases/98/gamegadget.htm

I have copied the contents from my PC to the SD as written

I have put the card to the GG, pressed the A button while it was booting, and suddently the screen started to flash with the message SANDBOX. Stuck here.

I reformatted the SD card again ((FAT32) ..now is the third time that I am copying these contents to the card....

Where am I making the mistake apart of buying it?

Arcade emulation is a pain in the ass because they constanly change the filenames for arcade games.
For the games that don't run, i suggest you try older dumps.
For the games that run badly... I think the emulator is GnGeo so it's not perfect : What games are you trying to run ?
