I am proud to announce that the Dingoo now has an officially supported Vice build.
This build is based on the amazing SDL UI work of Nojoopa.
Thanks to both Nojoopa and BlackyStardust for all their help and support.

The release can be found here: http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/crossplatform/emulators/VICE/SDLVICE-dingoo-2.2.zip.

Release Notes:

- All machines are supported though some will work better than others and some don't really work at all.
- Vic20 and C64 seem to be fine though.
- Overclock to 400 for best results.
- ALL Vice menus are supported!

Keys:

Select = Menu.
A = Select.
X = Cancel
Start = Map key
DPAD = navigate

- See the ReadmeSDL.txt for more info

Enjoy!

I'd like to start exploring C64-related game library. Could someone please explain me, which emus should I use? There are 4 coming with the pack, there is Vice, there is Frodo... X64, Xplus4, Xvic...
I honestly know nothing about C64 and its derivatives and I failed to find info on dingoo's emulators of them.

Thanks for the release!

x64.dge starts the C64-emulator. Frodo, are you sure? MrLogan (i think) ported Frodo a few months ago, maybe you mixed some directories up?
Thanks sweetlilmre, you´re the porter?  Kiss

Vice is pretty fast compared to Frodo and the old Vice-build. But i only tried one demo so far: Edge of Disgrace, not fullspeed unfortunately. But the music rocks, no more jumping as in the earlier build!  Grin
For most games Frodo should be enough though. But more speed is always welcome.  Smiley

Indeed I am the porter Smiley.

Glad everyone likes it! Hopefully in the new year, when the crazy season is over, I can look into native zip support for the file browser.

I love it!  Grin
Found some minor bug: When selecting 41000 or 48000 hz for audio (for demos), i sometimes get a buffer overflow. Nothing dramatic, as vice keeps running and i can switch on the sound again, just wanted to mention it.
Thanks again, christmas is early this year, judging from the many presents the devs brought.  Smiley

oh btw, to watch demos, better set refresh rate (in speed menu) to 1/1 or 1/2, auto gives looow framerates when loading kicks in (still 100% though). Most demos run fullspeed, except for the loading parts. Decide if you want skippy sound and fluent graphics or reverse.  Cheesy

Hmm can´t edit the post anymore, so double post  Tongue
I found a way to get rid of the loading in some demos:
Find a .prg version of the demo you want to run. Or extract it, e.g. with d64 editor. But that only works if the demo is one big prg unfortnately. I attached one, Dawnfall by Oxyron. Remove the .txt on the end.
Fullspeed! Unlike the Wiz-Vice2.2: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/wiz.cgi?0,0,0,0,72,24 Cheesy
Can someone confirm Dingoo´s Vice is faster than Wiz-Vice? Hard to believe somehow...

@ctrl_shift_esc

Vice emulates the C64 and some other Commodore 8 Bit Computers. If you start x64.dge, you get the C64 Emulation, xvic.dge starts the VIC-20 Emulation and so on.

You can't overclock the Emulator from the menus anymore, at least as far as I have seen, but setting the clockrate to 400 or 430 MHz in dmenu before starting works fine and everything I tried runs in fullspeed, except while emulating the loading from a Floppy disc, but this is to be expected, cause the original Commodore Floppy drive had an extra CPU, that must be emulated too.

One question, anyone managed to run the C64DTV emulator (x64dtv.dge)? I only get a black screen.  Cry

When using the virtual keyboard, how do I get chars like ", * and $ and so on? Shift does not seem to have any effect...  Undecided Or better still, is there a browse disk image function as in the older version of VICE that I have missed?

For now I have to use The Final Cartridge III to browse disks, but some games does not like that, guess it takes some valuable memory from the game or something.
