i tried to replace the old files with this version and it's not launching anymore. what am i doing wrong?

You mean that you tried to compile them?

DISCLAIMER: The files i posted aren't a replacement or an improvement of greader2x: they are just part of one project of mine intended to created a GUI interface to mplayer ( currently not working as i intended it :-( ).

Thanks, batman, I was sure not talking about your files  Wink I already figured out my mistake.
So, now I'd like to request some help, please as the native reader turned out to be a bit worthless and I can't configure Greader right.
Mostly I read texts in cyrillic which is always a pain in the ass considering these text codings and so on. I was so glad to know it reads cyrillic, but there are two distressing things I can't get rid of myself:
1) It never seems to read cyrillic "Х", leaving me with some boxes and dots instead. see arrows.
2) The alignment is funny, leaving huge gaps for no obvious reason.

I'd appreciate any kind of help as my english is still far from reading Moby Dick in the original.

@ctrl_shift_esc: the only thing that comes into my mind is that i noticed an xhtml file called "english.lng".
Moreover, into the greader2x.cfg appears an entry:

Language="english.lng"

I never changed it because it works fine with italian accents, though. Don't know if messing around with it could actually be useful.

Hi, I have the same problem with letter ą (a with a comma)in polish. Every letter from polish alphabet is shown correctly except that one in documents coded in UTF-8.

edited: Ok, I managed to fix this problem. I uploaded to the card some more tt fonts, changed main font to times.ttf and every polish letter is shown correctly Smiley ctrl_shift_esc just code your documents in UTF and try with different fonts and it should work Smiley

Ok, I returned to use ebook reader for GBA in emulation mode Sad Im readinging a book which is about 600kb big and changing to the next "page" in greader takes about 15 seconds Sad Its so painfully slow.... I can push next page button at the beginning of reading that page. Can someone tell me why is that happening?

Hallo
Please, how to use greader for reading ebooks?
I copy the file Greader2x.dge (2 062 06 byte)  to Apps.
When  I run it, I take only black screen with mouse pointer up left. And Dingox is froze. I must use reset.
Are there any application for reading texts in eastern europe coding?

I have the same problem, is there a solution?

Maybe Dingux-Write works for you, it shows special german characters (ä,ö,ü) at least. Crashes with big texts though...

@eule: it could be the app can't find the resource files. I advice you to check it they are still at their place.

Hmm, in the archive from the first post is only a greader2x.dge and the sourcecode folder. Copying it didn´t help...  Sad
Does it work for you with gmenu2x?

do you need to give it a filename to load? and not giving it one loads nothing, hence causing it to crash?

is there anything dumped to the terminal when it fails? (ssh in, launch manually without gmenu)

No, nothing in the terminal and greader freezes i think, so i have to reset...
I figured it might be because i had no mplayer, so i downloaded the Non-IPU version (should work?), but still the same. I also tried with and without file selector, no difference. Same with putting greader2x into sbin/main... I´m clueless.  Huh
Guess it´s time for a new dingux install.  Cheesy

edit: Oh, i can watch terminal output under Windows too? Never was able to FTP to the Dingoo... Have to look into it.

@eule: it looks like an SDL error to me. Maybe are you using a recently recompiled  rootfs? You could try the last from the dingux google code page, just to check.

I found my error, Greader wants the files in src/other in it´s own directory. I blame WinRAR´s weird implementation of tar.  Grin
Thanks for the help, should´ve read the whole readme.  Smiley
Now how can i get my ä, ö, ü and ß? Often the whole word after such a character is cut off. Speed is fine i think, switching pages is fast!
Edit:
OK, I had to encode my txt files in UTF-8 to get special characters. Used Windows Notepad...

Great reader, no more GBA books for me!  Grin
