Dingoo Homebrew Reviews!

Since some people have requested this in the Suggestions-forums, I took the liberty of setting up a homebrew review site myself, just because it sounded something that'd be fun to administrate. However, it isn't going to be exactly like suggested, everyone aren't going to be freely publishing reviews when they feel like it. If you wish to write reviews, send me a PM, and I'll hook you up with an author account on DHR. You are then free to review homebrew applications.

I will, however, perform spell- and grammar checks on your work. I'm by no means a total grammar nazi, but if you can't handle the English language, you shouldn't be publishing articles in said language. If your articles are total and utter crap, and contains more errors than not, I'll be happy to promptly remove your account.

Last, but not least, I want this to be informative, and tell people about what they'd like to know about before downloading/installing a piece of homebrew.

You're welcome to leave your comments here. I would also appreciate if people commented on the reviews (current and future), I've run a site before that didn't recieve many comments despite having visitors in the thousands each day, and it's not very encouraging :P

well that's fine enough for me, great work :)

You could also add a section like how to record video's using the tv out cable hooked up to the pc or vnc server and how to make screenshots using fbgrab daemon. one could upload the video's to youtube or something. One could also do complete video reviews if they like.

You could add some "submit" functionality that has to be approved first like you go over the submitted review either written or video review and you (or eventually other people) decide if it will go live or not and if you would allow trusted people to directly make entries. I still would keep the function to delete submissions and reviews to yourselve and noone else, we wouldn't want to have a second "erase everything" situation to happen.

I hope it gets it's attention and become a good thing, perhaps it could even be included someday on dingoonity itselve...

nice work, keep it up

Hey, thanks for the feedback, I've noted your suggestions and will be deciding on what to do in the near future :)

Also, would be great if a mod could post this in news, to increase exposure :3

Cool site, hope it kicks off really good! I?d like to write some reviews, but don?t think i need author status, i?d just send you a review via PM if that?s ok. Or would that be too much hazzle? :)

It really needs more than just one reviewer as it will take you ages to write reviews 4 all the dingux apps. I like what ive seen so far though :)

That's no problem, just be sure to include the images you want to use, and note in the text where you want them to appear :) Look at the reviews on the site to get a general idea of the layout. :)

Sorry, no. I hate ads and won't ever have any on my website.

A little update:

DHR now has an IRC channel. Feel free to drop by #dhr on FreeNode! We'd love some idlers. If you have a review you want published on the site, you can reach me there! :)

We've been offline for a couple of days, hence the lack of updates and new reviews. For those interested, this was due to the fact that my web hosting provider had changed its IP-address without letting anyone know, so I had to update my domain DNS records to reflect the IP change. The site will be available again this evening.
