1) First you follow these instructions: http://www.treewalker.org/opendingux/
(tl;dr format the card as fat32, download the kernel and rename as "zImage", download the rootfs and rename as "rootfs.bin", copy both on the sd card. Make sure Windows doesn't hide file extensions when you rename the files.)
2) Then you install whatever you like from: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi

If you see the "open dingux" splash screen (not to confuse with the dualboot "dingux" black screen), then the kernel works. It most likely reboots because it cannot find the "rootfs.bin" file. Are you positive your rootfs file is named exactly like this and it resides on the top of the SD card, next to zImage (so not in /local/)?

I called it rootfs not rootfs.bin I have deleted the .bin extention....   :-[

PS I do not have a local folder... only emulators, ports and Roms folders on the root of the SD with zImage and Rootfs

I will try again after dinner and report back....

thanks

The lack of /local/ should no longer be a problem, however some applications might still output configs or saves to /local/home/.[app_name], so for the sake of backwards compatibility I'd create this directory.

Renaming .bin fixed the boot issue, but not showing any apps so I will the local \ home directories too :)

thanks again :)

You need to download and install the applications yourself :)

OK im getting somewhere slowly... :)

I found an option to scan the SD card and it found all the stuff I have on the card... It found the following:

MAME (boots then closes straight away)
SNES (Boots then closes straight away)
Duke 32 (working)
Doom (boots then closes straight away)
Picodrive (boots then closes)
ScummVM (working)
GNUboy (Boots then closes straight away)

Also everything is in a DGE folder when pressing L&R not in emulators or Ports sections :(

any ideas??? (sorry new to this opendingux)

Let me explain how to add software to gmenu2x.
1) Use L/R to select the category you want to add new software to.
2) Press [select] button
3) Choose "Add link in {category}" option
4) Point to the location of your program's executable (usually .dge) file

In case of some emulators that need to be launched with a specified rom file:
5) Select the emulator icon using the d-pad
6) Press [select] button
7) Choose "Edit {emu_name}"
8) Choose "Selector Directory"
9) Point it to the location of your rom folder
10) (additional step) If you want to be able to browse outside your rom directory, set the "Selector Browser" option to "ON"

I have a question kind of similar to this topic.  Is a 16 gb sd card the limit for OpenDingux?  My 16 gb card works great, but i'm running out of space for all the emulators and games made possible by the genius of OpenDingux.  However, I bought a 32 gb card with hopes to add more games, and I'm not able to boot OpenDingux.

The www.dingoonity.com screen appears.  I'm holding down select while this screen appears, but then nothing happens.  The dingoo just freezes at this screen and doesn't bring up OpenDingux.

Thanks!

My A320 works fine with 32GB.

For anyone that's curious.  I reformatted the SD card, then re-installed the zImage and rootfs.bin files and I was able to boot OpenDingux.
