In the youtube howto: it said resize "alien grey" but... what size do you resize it to, and why is there a 2 unalloated and 3 ext (2 ext3 and one ext2) i know im new just didnt know where to go about it and i like that there is an open source update when dingoo looks to be walking away from any help. oh and do i format the unallocated

Ext2                  4.05 mb of 80mb
ALIEN_GREY1     2.02mb of 1gb
unallocated             0mb of 13.59gb

Don't touch other partitions, just resize ALIEN_GREY1 to the end of free space.

Dingoo A-380 render by Santo

Dingoo A-380 CFW V2.07.06 is available for download.

Some small changes have been made for all languages. The most important part is the support added for a new Game Boy Advance emulator build by d_smagin. The emulator is also based on gpsp V0.9 but the game compatibility is a lot better than with the original Dingoo A-380 emulator. Most of the games run jus fine with the default emulator settings. If a game suffers from slowdowns try with changing the frameskip from Auto to Manual and 1.

Note: The L/R button issue isn't fixed yet. It didn't fix the issue only moved it to the wireless controllers.

changing the "Display scaling" to Normal in "Graphics and Sound options" improves game play a lot for slower games.. Normal scaler provides the original GBA scrn ratio.. so better image too... ;)

full scrn mode also quite good.. most of the games runs without issues....

thanks to d_smagin for such a great port.. i m waiting for this since a long time  :'(

Maybe you're using the wrong MAME ROM set. It should be ROM set version 0.37b5 but 0.37b16 works fine too and easier to find.

What does it take to port a DOS game to the A380 on this CFW?
I wanted to see if it would run frontier elite II.

Source code is not available, since it was a commercial game. So, no native port possible. But you can try amiga version in uae4all emulator (not guarranteed to work) or atari st version in dcastaway.

Hi there! Is it possible to still use the new firmware without the card? I don't have one, but I really don't care for the features lost (Audio Player, Video Player, Pictures, E-Book, equalizer).

No because without the external MicroSD card it isn't possible to use the Open-Source emulators and games and these are features that you don't want to lose.  ;)

No. It's an Amiga emulator or an Atari ST emulator. That means that you're going to have to use the Amiga version or Atari ST version.

You can try to make it run with DOSBox but the Alha release from Slaanesh is very slow.  :(

I was looking around online and found that frontier elite II is shareware. So it could be a small possibility that the source code is out there what would I need to get it converted over to the A380?

You misunderstand what 'shareware' means. The answer is 'no'.

In general, if you take source-code for some game and want it converted to dingux, you should verify:
- if it uses cross-platform libraries for video/audio/input e.g. SDL and make sure these libraries are supported in dingux
- if it uses low resolution like 320x200 or 320x240, otherwise you'll need to code a downscaler yourself
Then you could try to compile it with cross-toolchain and to correct numerous errors you most probably encounter. If you are done with it, do more test on real device and eliminate some more obscure bugs and voila, your own port is ready.

There's a PSP port from the Atari ST version and the source code is available. Have a look here: http://www.txori.com/?static2/frontier

Oh, yes, I'm aware of this version. This is not a port per se, but rather a disassembled game from Atari ST bound with an emulator.
It was actually succesfully compiled for GCW-Zero however there were problems with gcc consuming too much memory because of huge files generated on the fly.

Still, original source code was never available.
