I have some issues with a380 I can't make any of my emulators work when i try booting them, they just wont react at all, anyone know what the reasons is because of ? and also im also feeling its a bit unclear when it writes "should run every application" just click the button for music folder or what,  would appreciate it alot if someone could give some tips when it comes to thoose issues

Thanks !

Power on your Dingoo A-380 with the custom firmware. The first thing you should do is "Restore Default Settings". Than you're ready to make the folders and sub folders on your Dingoo A-380 by running every application available in the firmware. The emulators won't start because there aren't any on the Dingoo A-380 yet but the folders needed will be created.

Now you're ready to connect your Dingoo A-380 to your computer and copy the emulators back to the "emulators" folder and your game ROMs to the "game" sub folders.

The new custom firmware is available for download. Don't forget to download the emulators package or you can't use the Atari Lynx emulator from d_smagin. The guy is a real genius and I'm very happy that he took the time to make a first version of his handy_sdl emulator so we can use it with the new custom firmware.

Atari Lynx emulator:

The Atari Lynx emulator already works very good on the Dingoo A-380 in both fullscreen and simple2x mode. To toggle between the screen modes use the L button. Button layout is A = A, B = B, X = Option 1 and Y = Option 2. With the Start button you can pause the game. To quit the game use the Select button.

A final version with a gui and more tweaked is going to be available some time in the future. For now we have to do with this one that he build so I could release the new custom firmware.

Enjoy the Atari Lynx emulator.

SDLWrapper:

Also new in this custom firmware release is the SDLWrapper build by an other genius Ayla. You can use it to center the image from SDL games on the Dingoo A-380 screen. To give you an example. Dowload the game Digger. Copy it to the "sdlgames" folder on the external MicroSD card. Start it from "SDL Games" in the firmware and enjoy it at 320 x 240 pixels with the image centered on the screen.

You can download the game Digger here: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi?0,0,0,0,35,433

Thanks to both Ayla and d_smagin for their time and support.

I can fix the speed issue with the Gameboy and Gameboy Color emulators by changing the clock frequency.

With the Gameboy running at 216Mhz and the Gameboy Color at 344Mhz they won't run to fast anymore. Maybe the Gameboy emulator already runs a little bit to slow but if I change the clock speed to 224Mhz it runs to fast again.

The downside is that you can't use them anymore with TV out with these frequencies because it's to slow. What I can do is add them both with their original clock to the "Emulators" menu as "Gameboy (TV)" and "Gameboy Color (TV)".

Maybe this is a good idea for the next custom firmware. What do you guys think about that?

i think GB and GBC emulator is not slowed down... it is actually a bit faster then normal... so we have to make it a bit slower...

actually i compared to a jxd 1000B game player... it is playing those games very nice and sound also good.... but in our dingoo they are a bit faster, so it making us to play like an olympic runner... :-[

That's why I'm testing the Gameboy emulator at 216MHz and the Gameboy Color at 344MHz. The Gameboy Color seems to be running very good at 344MHz. The Gameboy Color seems to be running to slow at 216MHz.

Can you compare the Gameboy emulator with the game Galaga & Galaxian on your JXD 1000B with a video from YouTube. I would like to know if the JXD 1000B runs the game slower than what you see on YouTube. You can compare it with this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7CGfYwj4GE

If I slow down the Gameboy emulator on the Dingoo A-380 it runs slower compared to what I see in that video.

yes... i compared to that video... jxd 1000b playing exactly same...

so that will be the required speed for GB emulator...

but dingoo is tooo fast ::)

when you slowed down the GB emulator, try to tweak the frame skip option to make it a little bit faster..
but now i think the frame skip option not working and it returns back to 0..

It was worth a try but it didn't work. To slow down the Gameboy emulator it has to run at 216MHz but than it runs to slow.  :(

Oh, c'mon, guys... It's a bad practice.
It's easier to adapt gnuboy to a380 than to try to tweak the untweakable! :)
And that is what most probably I'm going to do after I finish gui for handy_sdl.

Excellent work on the custom firmware.  My A380 is running much better already and the new emulators are great.

My only  problem is the options for all of the original emulators are in Chinese now.  How can I get that changed to English?  All the menus are in English so I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks in advance.
