Dingoo a320/a380 or Gemei a330 ?
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:30:08 pm »
Hi!

I would like buying a game station console, but  I can't decide between the Dingoo a320, Dingoo a380 and the Gemei a330..
What kind of console is the more appropriate for GB/GBC/GBA emulation ? I don't care of the others systems!  ;D
I prefer the Dingoo a380's look, so I would like knowing if GB/GBC/GBA emulation is good on this platform!

(Sorry for my bad english, I'm french..)   :-X

if those are all your buying options, and what you're looking for is gb/gbc/gba emulation... then go for the a320, no questions about it

Go for the A320 or the A380.

Don't buy the Gemei A330, CC don't want to help the community then go with another solution.
(I got a Gemei and i'm very unsatisfied).

Gameboy emulation on the A380 is good but I think that some of the games run to fast.

Gameboy color is very good. There isn't a game that I've tried that didn't run great on the A380.

Gameboy advance is something different. Most games run great on the A380 but there are games, like the Crash bandicoot games, that run very bad. I think that this is because these games have both SFX and Music as sound.

CPS1, CPS2, NEOGEO and all SEGA games run very well on the A380 and you are going to like them.

GBA emulation on Dingoo a320 is better than the Dingoo a380, or it's the same ?

I don't know. All I know is that the game ROMs are fine and run great on a Nintendo 3DS with a Supercard DSTWO.

Hi,

I am also considering to buy a dingoo a320 or a a380. I will use it for playing (in order of importance): snes, nes, gameboy games, only single player. Wich device would provide the best performance for this? If I have read correctly, the a 380 is newer, but the a320 is more open, which has the advantage that the firmware is better?

In a nutshell the A380 has higher spec and more features but because it used Emulators, Apps and OS that the company never worked on themselves without giving the cummunity who worked on the stuff any credit and not playing by the rules of the software agreements. The Homebrew Development Community that made the A320 what it is today, mostly do not wish to have anything to do with the A380 which would also inc the A320E which is same console minus wireless and G-sensor.

The A320 has a good base of support and still gets updates to Emulators and other stuff in the Community.

Emulation of GBA, GBC and GB are pretty solid on the A320, you can also install Dingux and Open Dingux that give the A320 a far greater libary or Emulators and Games.

As for NES again the A320 is good, SNES well its ok not perfect but if running at 400Mhz then most games run well, at a playable speed. Some problems may occur with glitches and speed problems with SFX Chip Games, and also Games that use transparency (Zelda Link to Past) will suffer a 10fps speed drop with transparency on, when off the frame rates are good but off course you will see missing sprites etc.

If you are after SNES then the Caanoo/Wiz are pretty good, but then again you can also go for the JXD S601 they are cheap and Andriod and should offer good Snes Emulation.

It's difficult to say which device has the better firmware if you only have one device.

The question is should you buy a Dingoo A380?

I can tell you that I do respect DT's decision not to release the firmware source codes but that also means that they should fix the firmware bugs and issues. From my own experience and from what I read from the other guys on the forum, the firmware is only half finished. Most of the emulator options don't work as they should or don't work at all. That's not acceptable and it should be fixed.

The SNES and NES emulation is good. Most of the games run nice and smooth. The NES sound could be better.

If the Dingoo A380 is your first choice, than I say go for it. Only time can tell if you made the right choice and if DT decides not to fix the firmware issues and still don't want to release the source codes, than we've got a good reason the to be angry.
