(and don't forget about the old x760+ that's internally waaaay more related to the a320 than the a380 ever was). this explains the appalling build quality of dingoo tech products (they're depending on another oem to get their goods), the unaddressed 32mb of ram on their own a330, the complete lack of dingoogames bundled software, their NEED to steal dingux in order to get updated emulators for their latest product, and so, and so, and so on...

to say "some sources say this, some say that, nobody knows for sure ERGO dingootech is related to dingoo digital" is a complete irresponsibility that only brings more confusion to an already confusing market. occam's razor heavily suggest that this is no more than just a brand issue. after all, we all know that in china copyright matters, much like the gpl, weigh less than a fart.

If you only count official software, then yes, they are not related.
However dingux software only need trivial changes to work, changing the resolution. If zear or anyone else porting applications to dingux would do it, they would do it and it would go fast, they just don't want to.

The companies themselves do not have any relation yes, but I know for sure at least one person who used to be in DD now is in DT, and probably a few more.
Yes, Gemei is the "real" company. I'm not sure what DD really did / or do anymore. The original A320 at least had a new case and new buttons from the x760+, but the newest DD Dingoo is simply a rename of the Gemei device.

Im glad some people in this forum are taking interest in the a380. I'm new to this whole "dingoo" scene and got my a380 about 2 months ago, and I love the thing. It's always in my pocket, and I can't put it down. I'm an automation technician so robotics and programming is like a second nature to me, I already have my a380 at 64gb, and like i said i'm new to the dingoo, but figuring it out took about 2 minutes. I will be taking a stab at some firmware mods, and other "tweaks". Let's make a board here just for a380 mods and compile all of our work and help eachother, no negativity, no bashing, and show those that think it can't be done, that it WILL be done ;D

Oh, and @ "SQ", a company will never release it's "trade secrets", that would be a ridiculous move for any business owner, and the fact that dingoo tech is willing to "buy in" to this forums requests, is enough to show that they are doing what they can. Unfortunately dingoo probably doesn't have a high revenue off their gaming systems, so in order for them to stay competitive and alive they have to keep at the top of their industry, you should wikipedia "industry" and you might have an idea of what you are talking about ;)

Priority number one is to gather as much information as we can about the firmware bugs and issues. It's important that we all use the same firmware and if I'm right it's probably V2.0016. When we've got the information we could ask DT to fix it. That would be a more realistic question than to ask for the source codes.

1. the problem here is that their "trade secrets" are GPL licensed software. should i also explain to you how this works?
2. dingootech have never listened to anyone but themselves -- if they were really listening they would've released the code modifications they made to dingux as we've requested time and time again. they ended with dingux simply because of their inability of understanding how the old os and emulators work in the first place (see the a330 fiasco for further details)
3. you should wikipedia "GNU General Public License" and you might realize that you really don't understand jack about the issue yet you're trying to be condescending with someone ;)

Guys, calm down. People have no interest in politics and will not understand the issue (I care and I understand it). If you buy something, you want an endorsement that you made a good decision. Since none of the developers here is willing to do that (and respond negatively), they feel the need to defend themselves.

But let me clear up some misunderstanding: the A380 will not get any firmware or emulation fixes from the company that sells the device. So if you encounter any issue with your A380, expect nobody to help you fix it (unless you send an A380 to a developer). Also please stop speculating about things you have no knowledge about. Aside from these issues I'm sure it's possible that you can actually enjoy the product.

Totally. I would say that developers on the whole aren't particularly negative about it though, they're just indifferent. It isn't anywhere near as popular as the A320 and I would guess few developers own one so obviously most aren't interested in coding for it. The whole gpl thing doesn't help matters but lets face it - this is a pretty unpopular device which is using already outdated hardware and it costs more than technically superior devices. It isn't going to get the community support that it's owners were expecting.

You hate it, you hate the company and you probably find it cool to attack the guys that do own a Dingoo A380.


The fact, is that nobody that owns a Dingoo A380 cares if DT doesn't want to release the source codes, so why should you care if you don't own one and don't want to buy one?


The reasson that we bought it is because of the hardware. The Dingoo A320 has better support but it also has it's hardware limitations.


Saying that there won't be firmware updates is also wrong. There have been firmware updates but you don't find them on DT's official download page. The Dingoo A380 has a firmware update utility so it's obvious that DT is or was planning to release official firmware updates.

About hardware limitation, jz4755 is a 400mhz processor underclocked to 360mhz, and afaik it can't be overclocked on a380 (or a320e for me). On dingoo a320 it's an jz4740 only but it can be overclock from 336 to 430mhz... I don't know if that will change but for the moment a380 hardware is more "limited".

With hardware limitation I mean no support for two game controllers. That's the reason why I didn't buy a Dingoo A320 and that it's possible to upgrade it to 64GB.

Assumptions based on review of actions yielding empirical evidence slanting strongly in that direction aka observation.

He and, all of us, know what Dingoo did.  Speaking of positive, it may behoove you to not yourself assume we don't know.

By inform do you mean ward them off?  Thanks, but your "help", used euphemistically, is unsolicited and unneeded.  If you care to move the device forward, by all means, chime in, otherwise, you're not only not a help, but a hindrance.
