I was playing a video on my dingoo in avi format (i converted it from a flv file (not sure if that is the problem)). anyway, it kept, every 7 or so seconds, pausing for one second (like it was buffering). it's really annoying though. any suggestions? p.s. - I have the latest firmware. many thanks

does it play smoothly if you use vlc or something? (on your computer), could be due to the conversion
if not, change how you convert it (use a different codec etc, bitrates, all that kind of stuff)

I'd suggest trying a lower bitrate / target file size.
Also, the Dingoo's resolution is 320x240. Use that as a target in your encoding program if you can.

I got the best results using xvid as codec. Mpegs stuck at every few frames, too.

I've been on a massive mission converting all of my DVD collection so I don't have to stand in front of my shelves to pick a film and I was thinking of doing Dingoo versions of my favs. Does anyone know the best quality a Dingoo can handle before it starts skipping and what codec it's most comfortable with?

As the screen resolution is 320x240 I'd say that would be the best size with perhaps XVID as the codec.
For sound, 128kbps would probably be the best for filesize.

I'd guessed the 320x240 bit. I was thinking about scrimping on the audio and doing it in 64kbps mono if that would get me more picture quality but I don't know if that's how it works. For anime you can put the framerate down to 15fps but I don't like going that low on live action.

I use virtualdub and encode my Dingoo videos with Xvid at 320x resolutions. I set target quantizer at 2, 3 or 4 depending on the quality and filesize I want. Never had any problems so far

What tools/format did you use out of interest.
I will be using XP initially and moving to Win7, need copies I can watch on PC, stream to Xbox and/or PS3..

hi guys! am awaiting my dingoo and wondered how does one convert dvd to a format to put onto dingoo or my phone!?? am a complete noob when it comes to this! i have tried something called handbrake but that just fails all the time! please help a complete sad case lol!!!xxx

Try Super (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html) as a great free video encoding program. Super is a pretty easy program to use - I'm pretty newbie at this too and was able to reencode videos for my Dingoo just fine the first time through.
Check out SiENcE's (http://sience.schattenkind.net/dingoo/Dingoo_a320_eng.htm) website for a really useful table which shows which codecs, wrappers and bitrates are best for the Dingoo.

I use OJOSoft Total Video Converter. The settings I use for this program are: Windows Zune - Best Quality - 320*240 - 1000kbps. Videos come out great with no skipping at all (even when fast forwarding or skipping ahead).
