Super small Dingoo alternative?
« on: August 06, 2012, 03:21:05 AM »
I'm looking for the smallest PMP that can emulate NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA without issues. I mean really small, like Gameboy Micro small. And hopefully a little cheaper than the Dingoo :)

It doesn't exists, SNES and GBA emulation without issues (meaning "fullspeed without frameskip, good quality sound, great compatibility") is really hard to achieve.

Maybe the K1 is small (at least when you close it), but I don't know if it's made to run only GBA or something more.

The YDPG16 seems to be the smallest Android handheld and should be enough to run all those consoles you named without issues, but it's not as small as the GameBoy Micro and isn't cheaper than the Dingoo.

The K1 looks like a GBA-specific emulator of some kind.

I thought the Dingoo could emulate GBA and SNES without issues?

It's really good, but it's not perfect. There are SNES and GBA games that are unplayable even with overclock, but most of the games are fully playable and at really good speed.

I'm sure this is fashionably late, or even "old hat" perhaps, but, there is a flashcard for the GBA (including ALL models, even the Micro) that can run - GameBoy/GameBoy Color, Sega Master System, TurboGrafx-16, NES and  GameBoy Advance games...

I know, no SNES or Genesis support, but still moderately robust and interesting for supporting such old tech...
I use it casually and it makes me actually want to play my old GBAs.

Here is the link for the SuperCard SD in case you or anyone else is interested:

can you conform that the GB micro supports that flashcard and able to play all those type of games?

Yes, i have comfirmed firsthand that the Supercard-SD (the GBA cartridge lookalike model) works well on the: Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance-SP, Gameboy Micro and the Dual Screen Lite.

Bit late to the party here, but I originally bought a WIZ for this reason and was very happy with it. Perhaps you can still track one down, it emulates those systems well and is small and well built.

Not quite as small as the micro mind you, but seeing as they're old now, you should be able to get one cheap.

Otherwise what about the new GCW Zero? Not seen one of those in the flesh, but they look small and perfectly formed...

The gcw is about the same size as the Caanoo, same screen size as well.

about the gba flash carts: actually there are snes and megadrive emulators for gba, but they arent working 100% for every game yet and you have to deal with screen scaling (as in all emulators for gba except gameboy/color)
