Photos of new Unpawed Unit
« on: November 05, 2009, 04:06:26 pm »
I took apart both pawed (older) and unpawed (newer) units for the sake of dingoo science. Here are the pix. Titles of jpgs describe the units.

More to come ... developing ...

Mine seems to be missing a chip but it has the paw logo on the ingenic processor (You can't tell from this picture taken by cheap samsung cell even under these optimum lighting conditions)

This is one of the cheap ones. And here is the horror story

So... a dumb white guy waiting for his Dingoo is hungry to know, would his new unpawed unit be a pile of shit by default or is here a chance that it would be just as cool as the thing he expected to get?

At this point i'd be hoping for one with the paw outline on it.

I really doubt that it's inferior or something that is bad might just be a better redesign. As I have said before I deal directly with Dingoo Digital China all the time and I'm working on the emulator issue them and the community emulator makers to see what the issue is and how to fix it.

porbably a lower-cost part with same specs, but cheaper materials and lower quality control...

Also the pawed Dingoo`s have 1700mah batteries and the unpawed versions have 1800mah batteries....
But I still think the unpawed look shabby with all that red stuff lol

I'm so confused by the new chip in the lower left part of the screen...

its 2x 2gb chips for the internal Dingoo NAND rather than a single 4gb chip found in the older Pawprinted Dingoos.
Presumably because 2x 2gb chips are probably cheaper.

My speculation is that these cost cutting measures are to improve profit margins. Dingoo is probably more popular than Dingoo Digital anticipated (thanks to Dingux) hence these cost cutting measures.

Thanks. So, business remains the same and China remains the same...

Looks exactly like..

(yes this is a pic of a replacement case, but it is identical to the unpawed Dingoos)

Is there really that much of a difference in quality control on these unpawed units? The only visible difference is the use of 2 nand chips instead of one, and the mainboard was designed to allow for that.

I mean, there were still people having problems with the pawed units made before. Maybe some people just got unlucky?

I wish it was so and maybe it is. But how much do you think it costs to draw a paw at the back of our Dingoos? Would you ever think about cutting down expenses on that? That might be a sign of an overall worsening.
