Custom firmware 1.20-pof
« on: November 06, 2009, 12:28:08 pm »
My modified version of official 1.20 firmware, includes the following:

* Based on official 1.20 firmware (Y/B bug fixed!)
* Supports custom themes (system folder visible)
* Default language set to english
* Megadrive emulator fixed to use the quick double buffer technique
* Added NeoGeo Pocket emulator
* Added Game Boy Color (GBC) emulator
* Overclock apps included (select from 200Mhz to 430Mhz)
* Nice boot & logoff screens
* Fixed typos in english translation
* Default brightness set to 3
* Auto Poweroff set to 1 hour

== INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS ==
1. Copy all the contents into the root dir of your dingoo internal UDisk.
2. Switch off your dingoo
3. Press and hold DOWN in the D-PAD
4. Switch on your dingoo, firmware will update. Wait 5 minutes.
5. Reboot your dingoo

== DISCLAIMER ==
I take no responsibility for any conflict, fault, or damage caused to your Dingoo by flashing this unofficial firmware.
Full caution is advise, do not flash if you don't know what you're doing. Tested on 3 Dingoos and worked fine on all them.

Sound good.

Any reason you didn't add the good emulators for SMS, Colecovision, GB/GBC (the joyrider one) etc?

Might just have to flash me dingoo with this - would like some themes :-)

Does it say emulators instead of interesting game lol,
And can I have more than one theme stored on there at once so I can change
When I like  ;D

Thanks ruffnutts

Yes, I've changed that :)

AFAIK no, only theme-1 is customizable (in visible "system/res/").

yes, it's not lcd dependant, does not include any bootcode.

Damn, this firmware sounds awesome but rapidshare is a bitch:
Currently a lot of users are downloading files. Please try again in 2 minutes or become a Premium member
Can you pls use mediafire or megaupload? or dump it in here: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi?0,0,0,0,42

you could manually update using the chinachip flashing software, which you can find in any of the "unbricker" packages on dingoo-digital.

But make sure you backup your files from internal memory first, as "unbricking" wipes the internal flash.

Couldn't you just change the firmware version number too 1.21? I don't think dingoo is releasing any 1.21 version 1.11 was only language update.

Well done, thanks!
Anyway i've got some questions:

- Would it be possible to add support for other font encodings? I'm italian and atm i can't read accented letters.
- Is it possible to set by default a custom background for the ebook reader? Because i have to set it every time i reboot my dingoo. The same happens for ebook font colour.
- How can I change the default font for ebook?

Thanks!

Replace the RES folder in the System folder with your themes RES folder.

Then just make sure you have selected Theme One under System Setup > Theme Choose

This new custom Firmware works very well  ;D

But I did find a bit of Engrish still in there

System Setup > Blight Time
