Who purchased a nexus 7?
« on: July 21, 2012, 01:59:38 PM »
If anyone is wondering how the nexus 7 is for retro and modern gaming here is a video. its pretty awesome. I wish it had tvout though or maybe even mhl support. Oh well for now I will use a external case that folds into a stand.

Hey Qbertaddoct,

Had mine preordered...then cancelled.  Too many toys already.  iPad gen 1, a Tegra 2 10" tablet, and I just got a S7100B that I'm having a blast with.  Maybe down the road.

How long did it take you to get it out of the box?  I understand the box is rather...snug.  Lol.

In terms of performance, Amlogic MX, or Rockchip 3066 is perfect for most emulators. Of course Tegra 3 is a bit better. I have a TI OMAP 4460 1,5 ghzdual core device and emus run perfect, including PSX and n64. The big con of Nexus is the lack of Tv-OUT support, but it seems a good device with a good price.
I don't accept PM messages. I am tired of them. Use forum to consult me anything.

Did you see the unboxing video collection on youtube?  That was freaking HILARIOUS!

Anyways, nah.  Bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0+(wifi only version, wanted a tablet from a REAL mfg and no hacked up Android, e.g. B&N, Fire, china tabs, etc.) on sale at an AWESOME price($250) a few months ago, so I'm done with tablets for a while.  It's HC right now, but they're rolling out ICS(probably last we'll get) but it's only available in Austria(of all places!) ATM.  (Next tablet & smartphone will be nexus though, but I'm going to hold out for hw updates before biting...)

(Probably think about a cheap Allwiner based tab IF they're really serious about helping out xbmc and others and run linux on it(well dual boot it), especially IF ARM does OSS their mali driver or makes it easier to integrate their BLOBs in kernel/X.org updates...)

JB has all sorts of improvements that are supposed to address latency problems with everything from the GUI(I never really noticed this unless I REALLY stressed my device) to sound and gfx.

Yeah I saw that video. It was a pain in the ass to get out. My wife was making fun of me. Took a good 5 minutes

Mine arrived last Thursday, haven't put it down since. It does N64 emulation nicely, and obviously GBA/Snes/Nes are all good.

Some of the game ports for Android are really good on it too (thanks Tegra!) so I've been playing Max Payne and GTA 3 on it a lot.

Id say it's probably the best Android tablet I've owned.
Play nice.
