JXD S5100 (Nintendo 3DS shaped)
« on: April 24, 2012, 01:41:03 PM »
Well at least its not a PSP rip off

So opinions ? i actually like the look of this more the JXD s5110 (vita look alike) the specs are the same for both so i guessing it will be down to what people want, in fact other then the screens the specs are the same as the S5110 i think so hopefully any custom stuff on one should work on the other, at least overclocking it wont be too hard.

Hmm if there both as good as the s601, might get me myself both the 5100 and 5110, hopefully
Wi-Fi Direct play would work between them (like on other jxd models)
so then i can play old neo geo games on a rip off 3ds against a rip off vita (and surely times would be good)

This looks like its missing L and R shoulder buttons. It also looks similar to S7100 except smaller and a  couple of button changes

Shoulder buttons should be included yo make the system more interesting.
I don't accept PM messages. I am tired of them. Use forum to consult me anything.

Definitely like the d-pad and the case, I would want to confirm that it has shoulder buttons though.

this does look nice, like the 3ds joystick too.. is this "multi-touch" resistive or true capacitive?

anymore pictures info on this? would like to see the shoulder buttons if they're there

kinda pricey though... 140 euro =/

lowered the contrast... if it has shoulders, then either on the back (=horror) or dingoo-like ones.
:/
also imo at this form factor it should rather be a 4.3 or 3.5 screen

ahh, I see them.. or the lack of case material anyway... it's either a photoshop, or there's something there

I always did say a while ago that the Nindendo 3DS bottom half would make the perfect homebrew device.

This looks to be the case with this system, if so well it would be more smaller than the YDP G18 and JXD s601, if it has Andriod 4.0 512MB Ram, 800Mhz-1Ghz CPU and 400Mhz GPU then this could be the system to have.

As long as it has Shoulder Buttons.

this is thing going to be noticeably longer than a Nintendo DSi XL, the screen will be 22mm larger... which might be worth the trade off, the dsi xl has a pretty nice sized screen. I'd be concerned about pocketability honestly.

I'd really put money this is also just a "reskinned" S601 hardware

Like it if they quoted a battery life, or give us the mah specs.

hmm it reminds me of my Letcool N350JP which i loved as i have big hands and the buttons on that where nice.
i hope this has larger buttons then a standard 3ds for one. And yea the specs on this and the S601 and s5110 are all the same,  not that thats a bad thing, hopefully like i said it will mean stuff for one will work on the others just as well, then the rest might be down to people choice in form factor.

the resolution for this is going to be better than the S601 which is almost laughably bad at 480x270 but I view the S601 as mainly a retro gaming handheld and you aren't going to notice pixelation playing your old 8/16/32 bit games

800x480 is a nice resolution for a handheld and a screen that size, should be good for playing movies and stuff as well as some more demanding android games (where dpi matters)

also the source code should be the same, I can't see JXD going too far away from a reference board they are familiar with and probably have chips still in stock. So most of the same procedures and modifications should be compatible with this that are already discovered for the S601.

kinda off topic, but I was really really not happy with my letcool. pressing multiple buttons actually visually slowed down gameplay and emulation, and for external pads only one keypress at a time... that was just ignorant for a Y splitter for 2 controls... I mean really? But it was fun to play around with lol

hmm i wonder would the higher res effect the battery life , also no point in having a higher res if  the quality of the screen is no good.
oh no dont get me wrong the emulation on the letcool was nothing special , just that its one of my fave handhelds to hold.

SNESFAN, you are right, source code will be the same for sure. In the case of s7100B, which uses also an amlogic m3, it uses the same f02ref board. :)
