Title: DROID X360 Super Script - Various Tweaks & Fixes
Post by: TehCrucible on August 06, 2012, 04:36:10 pm
DROID X360 SUPER SCRIPT
BY TEHCRUCIBLE
V0.5 - FOR ICS 4.04

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6G4Ouq7Yj0

INTRODUCTION
===========

This script is designed as a "one-click" modification for a stock Droid X360 running ICS 4.04. Please read this guide carefully before using. I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBLITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR DATA LOSS. You may need to perform a factory data reset as part of the script. THIS MEANS THAT ALL DATA ON THE INTERNAL STORAGE WILL BE ERASED. As always, backup before use.  This script is built on the work of many others much smarter than myself and be sure to check the credits.

UPDATE - WHATS NEW IN VERSION 0.5:

- Statusbar patch to allow apps and emulators to run in fullscreen.
- Added upgrade from v0.4 option.

Just another quick update to include a feature I know many of you are interested in.  v0.5 of the SuperScript patches the status bar and settings app to install "Smart Screen Mode".  This will allow fullscreen apps and emulators to actually run in true fullscreen (temporarily removing the status bar and virtual buttons). As such, I highly recommend you remap your hardware buttons with Step 4 so that you can still close fullscreen apps easily.

Also, I have noticed that after install, the status bar is disabled by default.  To fix this, On the device: Settings - Display - Screen mode - and choose your preferred mode:

- Smart Screen Mode - Allows emulators and some to run fullscreen (status bar will return on closing/minimizing the app).
- Official Screen Mode - Status bar is always displayed (default behaviour).

SO WHAT DOES IT DO?
================

In a nutshell:

- Backs up important system files
- Removes Chinese apps, keyboards & other crap
- Disables unnecessary Android services & components
- Fixes Google Play & restores and updates Google Apps
- Touchscreen, WiFi, battery & performance tweaks
- Installs Furan's modified keypad driver
- Remaps physical buttons correctly
- Optional system UI increase (Installs Apex Launcher)
- Replaces boring boot animation
- Allows apps and emulators to run fullscreen
- Generally makes your Droid X360 more awesome :)
- More features to come...

WHAT DO I NEED?
=============

- A Windows PC. I have included drivers for both x86 and x64.
- A USB C (Mini USB) cable.
- To leave your fear of the unknown at the door! Everything else is
in the SUPER SCRIPT folder. ;)

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
==================

1. Restore your DROID X360 to stock 4.04
2. Install ADB drivers
3. Run the script (READ CAREFULLY)
4. Play some roms!

Detailed step-by-step README.TXT in the folder.

Nice job TehCrucible. Do you think that the Droid X360 in comparison to the JXD S5110 and YDPG18A would be a better choice?

I understand Deen0x. I just asked here because no one could give me just a simple answer. Instead they just went off-topic. Guess i will just wait for another review.

I followed your instructions step by step but once I do step 5 it removes the play store. Any easy way to add it back on?

I tried downloading an Google Play APK for 4.0.4 and instaling (trying with and without step 6 in the Super Script) and I get either Google Play Failed or Server unavailable.

Any help?

Thank you for your great work, TehCrucible.

To let people completely use your firmware, you can make a video for it. It will let people feel easier to follow.

To remember to backup all your files before you do any adjustment to your device.

Thanks.

Yep, just run the option Step 6.  You do not need to redo the entire script, just ensure adb connection and follow the instructions in step 6.  Your Droid will reboot at the end of the step.  You then just need to clear data and cache (again, instructions are in the script) and reboot again.

Happy days!  ;D

I'm still ironing out the kinks with the store bit but if it ever happens again, you can always re-run step 6.  Also, don't forget to do Furan's keypad patch as well (Step 7).  I know I said its listed as optional but it makes a significant difference.

Version 0.2 coming in a few days with bugfixes, tweaks and a few new features!  And yes, I will do a youtube video soon, not only for the install process but to demonstrate how well things work after the script.  Thanks for trying it!

EDIT: I missed this bit:

I tried downloading an Google Play APK for 4.0.4 and instaling (trying with and without step 6 in the Super Script)

Thats weird.  Where did you get the play apk from?  Keep in mind this is still very early days for this script.

You can try this in the exact order:

- Re-run step 5.
- After factory restore, sign into Google Play.  You will probably be missing apps like facebook etc, if not, its fine, dont run step 6.  If you are, DONT clear cache or data yet.
- Move straight on to Step 6.
- Clear cache and data as step 6 instructs.
- REBOOT AGAIN
- Try Google Play again.  You shouldn't need to sign in, just re-accept the agreement.

Let me know how you go!

Nice job TehCrucible. Do you think that the Droid X360 in comparison to the JXD S5110 and YDPG18A would be a better choice?

Whilst it is off topic, I'll give it an answer anyway.  I don't own a JXD S5110 or a YDPG18A so I'm probably not the best person to ask, however, so far I am actually quite impressed with the X360 and I believe with a little bit more tweaking it could actually be pretty awesome.  Its powerful enough to do what it claims on the box and the build quality is pretty good as far as china stuff goes.  I'm particularly impressed with the touchscreen.  While obviously not comparable to say an iPhone or Galaxy s3, it did exceed my expectations.

Obviously the jury's still out on this one, but personally I'd say buy it for sure.  Also, if you are gonna buy one, definitely buy it from Willgoo.  Delivered to my door in 4 business days, and very helpful in the forums here.

Back on topic: Review and installtion video soon, I promise.

EDIT:  Apologies for the triple post lol.

I understand TehCrucible. Sorry about the off-topic, won't happen again. I'm almost convinced about buying the droid x360, but then i will wait a few days when someone posts a second review including yours and furan patch, and how much they can improve this handheld. Anyway, thanks for your answer, and for your great work with the droid x360.

Hey guys, updated to v0.2 today.  No need to re-flash if you are already running v0.1.  Just re-download and choose Step 8.  Backup first as always.  ;)

I ran version 0.2 and it was very well explained and super simple to follow.

However I think you need to be *extremely* clear that  the factory reset *will* erase all the content on the "internal" SD card, which means all roms and apk that were on the device when it ships.
I won't cry because those were all pirated versions anyways, but I lost all the stuff that the console shipped with. The factory reset *did* warn me, but stupidly I assumed it meant it would erase the physical SDCard (which I don't have) and that I would be ok.

I have yet to test the benefits in terms of battery life, etc...
Sadly I have to say that the issues I am experiencing with the pad are not gone, and the more I test, the more I am convinced that my problems come from the bad physical design of the device. Details in the other thread.

Thanks, updated.

Yeah there's definitely a hardware element.  Obviously no software fix and reduce the throw distance of the buttons or increase the size of contact points lol.  However, the fix does serve to reduce missed button presses caused by hitting multiple button presses in succession.

I have been working for the last few days on hardware modifications to the controls (to the point where my Droid is a bit of a frankenstein and will need to be replaced soon lol).  I've had varying success.  Results soon.  Willgoo has passed our concerns on to the manufacturer and he reports that they have taken it on board however, I doubt that we'll see a hardware revision this late in the production cycle.

Bottom line:  I'm still convinced that this can be a good device (even if it may need hardware mods) so I'm going to order another one shortly so I can compare results between the two.

I guess it is hardware dependent.  I have no such problems with mine.  I don't have to push hard on any of the buttons or the d-pad.

But that being said.  I wonder if it would be possible to fix your problems with a different d-pad/abxy button membrane.  I have tons of them from controllers. Like xbox, snes, N64, Ps1, Ps2 etc.  Maybe just the bigger button are on the membrane would be enough ?

I had a little luck using the membrane from my original ydpg18. The membrane from s5110, 601, dingoo a330 and dingoo a320 didn't help. I'm not going to bother with it anymore. I hope you guys are able to find a solution. I will try the ireadygo in the meantime and let you know how it works out

Let me know how you go!

Ok, so taking your advice I started from scratch and I keep running into issues. So with that being said (and knowing its about 99% probably my fault) I'll just list my step by step actions using (summarized).

Step 1. Flash to stock 4.0.4 and change language (goes perfectly).

Step 2. Allow dev options and open SuperScript (Still good)

Step 3. Checked connectivity, backed up files, and Disabled unnecessary services (w/ Hard reset)

Step 4. Tested connection again, Removed bloatware (even though it says "rm failed for..." on each one)

Step 5. Checked Play store still in app drawer (it is).

Step 6. Ran step 5 (Update framework and Gapps w/Factory reset)

Step 7. Phone reboots, Selected apex launcher, and Play Store is gone.

Step 8. Run "Repair Google Play" but no data/cache can be removed due to it not being listed under apps in settings.

Now, from my understanding the play store should be on the phone after following these steps. So I'm just trying to see what I'm doing wrong -_-' any tips?

P.S. Are you able to get FPSe through the market after this is fixed? Psx4Droid is nice but some games I like to use cheats ;) My friend said he could get Facebook and the other market apps but FPSe said it was not compatible on his market anyway.

Hmm.  This is very strange.  I'm assuming you haven't made any modifications to the script at all.  I just find it weird that you get this very consistently yet it hasn't happened for anyone else.  However, you may have given me an idea by telling me that the Play store is actually removed.

There is a section in the script that removes the Play store and replaces it with an updated version.  I have been questioning myself whether this is even necessary as the Play store that comes stock seems to work for a lot of people.

I'll attach an edited version of the script just for you, without that section, essentially leaving the actual Vending.apk app alone and simply fixing the permissions.  Download it, place it in the SuperScript directory, and run it rather than the default SuperScript.bat.  You will need to re-flash to stock again before beginning.

Download:  http://www.mediafire.com/?plxr1f4j2e0pl3s

Step 4. Tested connection again, Removed bloatware (even though it says "rm failed for..." on each one)

This is normal.  The list of bloatware is a large generic list and not specific to the Droid X360.  It does remove many items but it also throws up a lot of fails because a lot of the items listed are not actually on the X360.  I simply haven't had the time to clean up the list yet.

P.S. Are you able to get FPSe through the market after this is fixed? Psx4Droid is nice but some games I like to use cheats ;) My friend said he could get Facebook and the other market apps but FPSe said it was not compatible on his market anyway.

Acutally, I just checked this myself and I get the same error.  Strange.  I'll look into it when I get a chance.

Hi,

I decided to give it a go and the whole process went smoothly and I can see the improvements so thanks a lot for making it available.

I do have a small question. Is there any kind of script to reconfigure all the key mapping for the emulator? It looks like I have to edit the settings manually. Not a big deal if this is the case, but I was just wondering if there were a quicker way.

Cheers

No worries, glad it worked for you.

Unfortunatly, not with this version of the script.  I did recently find where the default mappings are stored so the next version of SuperScript will retain default mappings but for those of us who've already applied the script, it needs to be done manually.

Thanks for this. I really enjoy the tweaks applied to this device. I literally just installed your script and have noticed it runs a bit better than when I received it.

I have noticed one bug so far, however. I've noticed that if I enter the settings - about tablet - status that the settings menu errors out and force closes. It did not do this before but does after following your tutorial and script. I did also notice that while it was running the script and removing the bloatware, that there were quite a few no such directory errors. It does appear to have removed the bloatware. The only thing I wish it did not remove was the file manager. I don't know if your script was supposed to remove it, but it did on my tablet.

I know this may be a little off topic, but I was also curious if it were possible to backup the OS as a livesuit compatable image file after making all these changes. Any help is greatly appreciated and again thank you for your work on this script.

I did also notice that while it was running the script and removing the bloatware, that there were quite a few no such directory errors. It does appear to have removed the bloatware.

As I said earlier in the thread, the list of bloatware is not specific to the Droid X360 so many rm failed errors is normal. Those items simply aren't on the Droid X360 to begin with.

The only thing I wish it did not remove was the file manager. I don't know if your script was supposed to remove it, but it did on my tablet.

this script remove the file manager, no is possible install APK later   :'(

Yes I had just noticed this myself.  Fixed for v0.3.

I know this may be a little off topic, but I was also curious if it were possible to backup the OS as a livesuit compatable image file after making all these changes. Any help is greatly appreciated and again thank you for your work on this script.

Not that I know of.  I'm working on getting CWM Touch on the X360 so that we can do nandroid backup that way, but its still not ready.

suggestion for the new version

give a choice to install another launcher. i prefer to use the default ics launcher (in my case), then may be a good idea to give to users the choice to install another when running the script

keep the appinstaller and filemanager apps. (donīt remove). appinstaller is so usefull to batch install apks from microSD, and filemanager may be so useful, if the script fails i think is good to get this app installed in the system

alternatives tools:
- cifs manager. droid came with cifs module pre-compiled, then we can use cifs manager to connect shared folders on the lan directly to /mnt/cifsmounts...
- if you can manage binds, i suggest to give the choice on the script to bind these two directories:
/mnt/extsd/AndroidSD -> /mnt/Android
/nmt/extsd/GameloftSD -> /mnt/Gameloft

these two are the fastest growing directories, and is a good idea to bind these to microSD card (in case user reinstall droid, him donīt need to resintal and download all data from games). I'm binding with "directory bind" app from xda.

- Give the choice to install Es File Explorer. I suggest this app because is a all in one solution. Root Explorer, FTP Client, Samba client, online storage client (sugarsync, dropbox, gdrive, etc), app manager, etc.

greetings!

Hey,

The only thing I noticed that would be really nice to have is support of external USB joysticks. Honestly I'm kinda lost on why they gave us an OTG cable if we can't even get ps3/360 controllers to work on it. Willgoo has yet to confirm they have a compatible controller although they did mention they "might have one" and would follow up with an answer (but as far as I could find they never did).

I've tried many different apps (even bought USB/BT Joystick) but none of them worked :/

I'm not sure how advanced into writing software you guys are on here, but a working driver to support PS3 or 360 controllers would be orgasmic ;P

Thanks for your suggestions.  Really, I'm doing this for you guys, so keep the ideas coming.  FYI, v0.3 will be ready to try out tomorrow.

give a choice to install another launcher. i prefer to use the default ics launcher (in my case), then may be a good idea to give to users the choice to install another when running the script

I agree and in fact I had already changed this back, when I ran into a bit of a snag.  v0.3 will include an option to slightly increase the system UI size.  I noticed that using the tablet version of ICS on a 5" screen can be a little fiddly sometimes (especially when it comes to some tablet versions of apps) so I have managed to increase the UI size to a certain extent without breaking anything.  HOWEVER, the UI size increase is not supported by the default ICS launcher, only by Apex Launcher (and maybe other third party ones, I haven't tried).  So I guess the question is, if I make the UI size increase an optional thing, will you guys be happy to use Apex to get it?

keep the appinstaller and filemanager apps. (donīt remove). appinstaller is so usefull to batch install apks from microSD, and filemanager may be so useful, if the script fails i think is good to get this app installed in the system

This has already been fixed for v0.3.  They weren't intentionally removed, just remnants of another script I borrowed from.  Upgrading from v0.2 will re-install these apps.

alternatives tools:
- cifs manager. droid came with cifs module pre-compiled, then we can use cifs manager to connect shared folders on the lan directly to /mnt/cifsmounts...
- if you can manage binds, i suggest to give the choice on the script to bind these two directories:
/mnt/extsd/AndroidSD -> /mnt/Android
/nmt/extsd/GameloftSD -> /mnt/Gameloft

I can definitely take a look at this, but it wont be included in tomorrows version.

- Give the choice to install Es File Explorer. I suggest this app because is a all in one solution. Root Explorer, FTP Client, Samba client, online storage client (sugarsync, dropbox, gdrive, etc), app manager, etc.

I too, love and use ES File Explorer, however (as with my reservations about Apex Launcher) I'm really trying not to include too many apps as part of the script as I don't want to push my choices on you guys.  ES File Explorer is available for free from the Play store and its just as easy to grab it from there as it would be to include it.

But, if you guys want it, I'm happy to take suggestions for peoples most used apps and include a kind of package manager quick install section in the script, to quickly install all your favorite apps when running the script.  Let me know what you think.

The only thing I noticed that would be really nice to have is support of external USB joysticks.

Checking out this is on my todo list.  GHallPS3, you will also be happy to know that tomorrows v0.3 will include a proper market fix that will allow you to install FPSe from Google Play.   8)

Thanks for your support guys.  Again, I can do all this for myself but the SuperScript is for you guys so keep hitting me up with what you want from it.  Eventually, the plan is to turn everything into a Livesuit flashable ROM for ease of use.

tehcrucible,
in regard to the livesuit image, and this is just my personal feelings on the matter, i would much rather we were given the ability to create the image from our own devices rather than have access to a pre-made distro. we would be able to customize our tablets how we see fit and save that progress. again, thanks for the script. i look forward to the future development of it.

i had a question about a couple programs that showed up on my tablet after running the script. i'm not sure how useful google maps, latitude, local, and phone are on a tablet without gps or carrier service. i know the phone app was on there prior to running your script, but i don't recall the other three. maybe an option to remove those apps for those of us that will not use them. i can imagine they are probably available on the market anyway. or maybe even a script option that will list all apps already installed and allows us pick and choose what to remove and keep and runs the changes all at the end.

i think is not neccessary.
Google apps are standard for any market enabled device. If you donīt want these apps, you can remove from your system.

phone is part of the system and cannot be moved out. after the script the icon appears on the app list. if you're using any launcher that have the option to hide some apps, then you can use to hide this icon.

for the image, you need to get knowledgments to make an image from your system to be used with livesuit. This is a custom rom.

and one of the things features a custom rom is precisely the customization that makes its author. If the author think that astro file manager is better (or more liking) than ES file explorer, is the choice he do.
I think is ok that all google apps must be on any android system. you think not. we only can suggest this to the author, but he does what he think is better for the rom.

the best part of a rom is the tweak of the system. all another things are details that each user can configure without problems.

note: Maps and navigation can work in your device. these apps donīt need a gps to work (but give some other features).
Maps can be used as a street directory, and navigator can work as a trip planner.

and... any android device (well, i think every) can use location wifi based to get your current location. open settings, location services->Google's location service (check), and maps give your current location on the screen.

greetings!

Download my script package and follow README.TXT  Its step by step and has all the tools you will need.  You will also need to download the stock firmware from Willgoo's link but thats included in the readme as well.

Thanks, I'll give it a go. what I was doing was re-programming the "B" button to be "dpad centre" which worked great, I can now navigate the OS using just the dpad and B (ie. select an emulator with the dpad, B to load, select a rom, b to start the game)
Maybe you could add that into a new version of your script if it's something people would want? I think it's great because there's a few android games that can be controlled that way too (ie simple 1-button games)
unfortunatly while experimenting I programmed Y as "power off" and can't restore it.

FYI if this is helpful at all i worked out the keys fire the following commands by default

Left Trigger "["
Right Trigger "]"?
Y "PgUp"?
X  "/"
A  "-"
B  "\"

Select "="
Start "FOCUS"?

I've just done a pull of system/usr/keylayout throguh adb and there's 13 .kl files which i can view in notepad++ and probably change and push back to the device. I'm looking on http://source.android.com/tech/input/key-layout-files.html and dont' see any mention of the 'power' function, I guess I need to figure out

a) which file holds the controls
b) which 'key number' each is
c) what function to assign to the key I remapped

it's interesting and again, from http://source.android.com/tech/input/key-layout-files.html i can see there's some flexibility here to setup the analog controls quite well (dead zone etc) i wonder if this is worth spending some time on?

Remapping any physical button on the X360 is pretty easy.  Just use an app like KeyTest (https://github.com/downloads/chrisboyle/keytest/KeyTest.apk) to get the button ID (or compare sun4i-keypad.kl, you want the number at the start) and make your changes to the corresponding number in Generic.kl.

This has been briefly discussed in the other X360 thread (http://boards.dingoonity.org/android-devices/droid-x360-game-tablet-deep-tested-results-and-faq-updated!/).  Its perhaps a little off-topic for this thread so maybe start another one if you would like to continue the discussion.

are you sure of this?

skelton tried sometimes to change keymapping of JXD devices, but always get a corrupt hardware system (non functional)

i want to change keylayout of droid x360, but unsuccefully.
my basic idea, is to change button mappins for "natural mapping" for this kind of device.

Taking Droid layout:
D-PAD buttons = Android D-PAD keys
Button A = Gamepad A (not "-")
Button B = Gamepad B (not "Insert")
Button X = Gamepad X (not "/")
Button Y = Gamepad Y (not "End call")
Shoulder button L = Gamepad L1/LB (not "[")
Shoulder button R = Gamepad R1/RB (not "Delete")
Button Select = Gamepad Select (not "=")
Button Start = Gamepad Start (not "key 126")

and i think we can use a convention to assign Left and Right sticks assignments
I propose the following:
Left stick Up = W
Left stick Down = S
Left stick Left = A
Left stick Right = D

Right stick Up = I
Right stick Down = K
Right stick Left = J
Right stick Right = L

i'll try to generate a new keymap, but surelly i need your help to do this. ^_^

EDIT: Yep.  You can remap anything to anything this way.  Here is a Generic.kl mapped the way you suggested.  Just download it and use Android Commander or similar to replace the Generic.kl in your /system/usr/keylayout directory.

the basic reason is to avoid accidentally pressing buttons show keyboard on screen, because butons ares assigned to normal keys ("-","[",etc) that android interprets as a search (in many sites, such main desktop windows, all keys are hooked by the google search, and when this occurr, android on screen keyboard appears)

another reason is there are many games with pre-defined keys assigned to gamepad keys. if you assign directly these keys, there is more chance to some games can use directly the buttons of the device. (probability that a game setup use "Gamepad A" button is greatest than using "-" button)

greetings!

note: i'm using a very interesting tool may you want to test too. AllWinner Mod (in market)
with this, i can change quickly between Samsung Galaxy S, S2, Motorola Xoom and AllWinner Default IDs... and dpi of screen (to use as phone)
with this, i can download and play some games that before i cannot. (Order & chaos cannot download, and run with glitches if i use another download data from another mali 400MP device)

Hey Guys,

First, I want to take time to thank TehCrucible, Furan and everyone else who has been contributing to the development and improvements of the DX360 8)

I decided that I wanted to help contribute to perfecting the DX360, but since I lack the "advanced scripting skills" I decided to try to help out with some visuals ;D

Now these are just some basic Icons to start with (for Emulators and Markets) that I put together with photoshop. I've even included the PSD files so that if you wanted to resize or even customize them to make them your own you can ;) Enjoy.

Icons.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/?51wa8ieabtpj710)

P.s. If there are any other Icons you want just send me a PM and I would be more then happy to help.

Credit to Dr. Light for the Google Play Icon :)

Haha I thought I threw in credit to you for that one :P I'll edit the post now lol.

I hope you like the new ones (I tried to keep the dimensions so that you could resize them a bit to your preference). I'll more then likely make another set for square icons instead of rectangle ones (for you "big fingered" folks ;D)

well, wiped the DX360 again, started up a fresh install of SS v0.3. Excellent so far!! could be all in my head but it seems noticeably faster/smoother. im also using Apex  launcher with the DPI increase. no bugs so far. Awesome work. willgoo should have you on payroll! lol

is there anyway to decrease the number of rows/columns in the app drawer using Apex?

Yeah the touchscreen performance is a really noticeable difference.  Brings it much more into line with top shelf devices when it comes to sensitivity etc.  I've also tried to keep things like permissions files as "stock" as possible this time around so everything should be nice and stable.

is there anyway to decrease the number of rows/columns in the app drawer using Apex?

Unfortunatly, not that I know of so far.  I haven't tested the DPI increase with other launchers that do have this feature though, so feel free to give it a try and get back to me.  If another popular launcher can support the increase and also offer this feature, I'd be more than happy to look at including it.

Thanks to everyone and their work on this devise.  So I got my x360 today and wanted to put .3 Super Script however I cant seem to get past 1.3 in the instructions.  So I ordered the device a few weeks ago and they sent me  a letter stating that the black 8GB was out of stock however they have the new updated version in white only so here is what they wrote.

Please note that the factory is updating the system and updating the device
function. So once it is finished and available, we will inform you and ship
it to you in time.

We hope you can understand and be patient to wait for it. Any problems,
please feel free to let us know.

So my question is do you guys think this update is the reason I cant get past the 1.3 section in the instructions or am I just doing it wrong.  Oh yeah does the R&U button have a "click" when pressed because my does not.  I have also tried on two different computers and still no luck.
Thanks for any help anyone can share with me

No, I doubt the update has anything to do with it.  It sounds like you have a very similar issue to mine unfortunately.  When I first got my X360, my R&U button was a little fiddly and didn't click either.  I had to open the device and shave some rough edges off the plastic button assembly in order to get it to work correctly.  It's a relatively simple fix but if you aren't confident in opening and working on consumer electronics, I'd probably try and get an exchange on the unit.  A working R&U button should have a nice "click" similar to the "reset" button on the bottom of the device.

Hmm I reformatted my Droid x360 now. Though after the flash the screen is black, though the power lits up green. I tried to reflash using the upgrade option but the same the screen is black.

Any tips? I used that firmware sun4i_crane_X360_front30m_back30m.img.

Is that image correct for my white droid X360 or is that another firmware than that one from Willgoo?

Ah nevermind I solved it. I just redownloaded the firmware again :)

No worries.  The power button and RU button are part of the same assembly, they can be removed (CAREFULLY) from the housing.  You will probably find that there is excess plastic around the base of the RU button.  Just use a file to shave it down properly.  You'll see what I mean when you get it open.

To open you need to remove the 4 black screws top and bottom and as you remove the back cover, you will need to pry the speakers from the casing.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Hey guys, just noticed a major bug with the keymapping introduced in v0.3.  I had remapped keys to match the correct linux "gamepad" codes as Deen0X suggested earlier in the thread.  I did this in the hope we'd have greater compatibility with apps and drivers and also to stop the search bar opening when buttons were pressed.  However, it appears that these buttons have hard coded mappings within certain emulator apps and they were causing the program to quit etc on button presses.

I've updated OP to an emergency v0.4 update to revert these changes.  If you are already running v0.3, download v0.4 and re-run Step 4 to patch the controls according to your preference.  The issue is fixed if you are running v0.4 from stock.  Sorry about that one guys, dropped the ball there lol.  I'll look into this keymapping further for future releases.

the only thing i noticed is i gained some extra functionallity with few buttons:

button_a = back
button_x = enter (select)
button_select = menu
button_start = home

but when using these buttons in emulators (i.e. mame tiger arcade or FPSe) i donīt have any issue mapping these buttons.

They map fine, however for example, when pressing B in Snesoid it actually goes to close the window rather than press "B" if you know what I mean.

EDIT:  WOW, ok I'm an idiot.  Just tried it again and it works exactly as you said Deen0X.  Weird.  Must have had the buttons mapped wrong in Snesoid before.  OK, going to revert everything back to v0.3 as standard lol.  Sorry about that folks.  False alarm.

2ND EDIT:  How does everyone feel about having the following hard button mapping by default?

BACK - Button under left thumbstick
MENU - Select button
HOME - Start button

FINAL EDIT:  OK so I've updated the OP with new v0.4 links that include the option to remap keypad controls like this.  Just remember to update your emulator input config after the patch! *facepalm*

Sure is.  You need to adjust the rows and columns to compensate for the larger icons.  By default, Apex removes the text if there's not enough room.  Alternatively, just restore the settings file I provided by going to Apex Settings - Backup & Restore - Restore from sdcard

While playing games it would be nice to get rid of this useless bar and have all games using full screen.

I'm using GMD GestureControl ★ root (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5nb29kbW9vZGRyb2lkLmdlc3R1cmVjb250cm9sIl0.). works very well, but is a little bit expensive (4.12€. lite version doesnīt have the hide statusbar option enabled)

i'm using droid in 160dpi settings, and i lost the ICS statusbar... (no buttons, no status, no USB manager), but with GMD i get some functions such back, home, app changer, hide statusbar, etc.

if you want to use, this is the configuration you need:

Advanced tab
Override multituouch device detection = On
select "silabs_f76x"

Override touch events parser detection = On
select "HC_DEFAULT"

press "Restart Service"

you're done!

greetings!

Crucible, I'm really glad that you've taken your time to work on this device and it's one of the reasons why I jumped into getting one, but I seem to have run into a problem that hopefully you can answer (or perhaps someone else here?).

I just received mine yesterday, loaded up the old firmware, installed the scripts and all the other awesome features you have in here. Everything worked perfectly so I turn it off for the night. I come in this morning to find that it no longer will display anything anymore. It turns on (via the green light), but only has a black screen. No sounds or anything. This is really upsetting because I had to wait a month to get this and it was exactly what I wanted when I got your scripts installed, but now I'm just completely disappointed. Is there anything I can do to fix this so I don't have to return it?

Is there any way to hide bottom status bar?
While playing games it would be nice to get rid of this useless bar and have all games using full screen.

I am working on including this in the next version of SuperScript.  The idea is to keep the status bar but have apps run "fullscreen" so to speak.

damn i'm confused, running the original 0.3 right now. didn't notice any issues with the emus once the buttons were mapped. do i need to update to 0.4?

Nope.  Only difference is a slight re-wording of the keypad patch section and a change in how the script actually patches.  The end result is the same.

That sucks man.  Can you kick it into R&U mode and re-flash with livesuit?

Ran the livesuit application with no problem, held down the R&U + Power as stated in the instructions, and then ran the firmware install. Nothing came up on the screen, and nothing still showed up afterwards. I think it might be an issue with the LCD, but I've never messed with tablets only computers so I don't exactly know what to do if I had to open it up.

Still kinda new with android tablets. Are you using the same firmware from the original post? And how do you go about reflashing it?

Yes I used the firmware from original post. Use Livesuit to reflash it. If you download the Superscript there is instructions how to reflash it.

So basically what I've already done, and I'm having zero luck with it. The message pops up and everything when I attempt to boot it up in recovery mode and it seems to install the firmware like it does normally, but then at the end it just gives me a blank message at the end and then shows me the "would you like to reformat" messages again.

This bits weird.  The blank message is normal.  Once you close that, your X360 should be rebooting and you should need to click the orange man to close livesuit.  The format message should not popup again.

I have found the re-flashing process extremely fiddly sometimes.  Best to just keep trying.  Re-download the firmware to make sure it wasn't corrupted.  And also, try on another computer (Windows x86 - 32bit ideally) if possible.

Welp, after multiple failed attempts, I did something irreversible. I got angry and threw the tablet onto my knee, shattering the display.

When I actually had the device on and running just yesterday, I was going through the settings and had set the USB power to 'on' which was probably the worst decision I could have ever made because whenever I'm holding down the horribly crafted R&U button, as I plug in the usb into my computer it automatically turns itself on, so as I'm holding down the power button it shuts off. I ended up slam dunking it into the trashcan just now.

It's probably for the best, this device sounded too good to be true anyhow.

Well DualX I think I had the same problem that you had (screen would not turn on) and even tried on multiple computers.  What helped me was TehCrucible (thank you) post about that damn R&U button.  I didn't quite shave it down like he said but I did have to open it and use tweezers to hold the button down.  I think for some the R&U button gets stuck and wont work well with Super Script instructions.  For me I had to slightly spread the thin plastic between the shell and the actual button on the motherboard.  The R&U button is supposed to have a slight click like the reset button when pressed.

sucks man, but at least you found out what was going on, i wouldn't write the device off just yet, its actually not that bad once you get everything all set up. and yeah like everyone was saying the r/u button is a little crazy, i never opened my system but i did use like a little metal spike thing to hold the button down. last time i flashed it worked on the first try  :o

I realized this may be off topic, but I am surrounded by those with this tablet and am not sure where else to look for answers.

I have had my tablet for just over a week. I've charged it twice per the manual's instructions (charge fully, deplete fully, repeat a couple times). The last time I used it, I noticed that after turning it on (from a full charge) that the battery was only at 80% capacity according to the software readout. While using it, it shut off and wouldn't turn on. It instead displayed a yellow outline of a battery with an exclamation point in the center. If I plug it in and let it sit for a moment and then turn it back on, then it will work but the battery reads out at 1%. I'm assuming the battery has shat itself and am curious if anybody knows where I can find a replacement or if the original PSP vita has the same battery.

Again, I'm sorry it's off topic but I can't install the updated script until I resolve this.

If the owner of the broken tablet still has a good battery and would like to sell or give it to me, I would be most greatful.

(I've contacted the seller about this and have yet to hear a response.)

I appreciate the feedback and all, but I don't think it can actually help my situation. First of all the R&U + Power will not work because, as the instructions state, when I plug in my usb cable it turns on even before I go to press and hold the power button itself effectively making it impossible to perform due to the fact that it turns off soon thereafter.

Secondly...I broke the screen over my knee. The screen is cracked pretty damn good. I wanted this thing to work so badly that I just got frustrated when it didn't and ended up taking my anger out on the device itself. I think you guys missed that part when reading my earlier post. lol...sadface...
Title: Re: DROID X360 Super Script - Various Tweaks & Fixes

first of all, the sequence for updating the device is:
press and hold R&U button.
plug USB cable (device will start to boot)
wait 2 seconds
press power button.

if you do this in the correct way, you will get the device ready to get a fresh firmware (flashing with livesuit)

about the screen. i'm not technician, but i think these devices will use common parts, and may be easy to found a spare for your device.

and last, if you can reinstall the firmware, then you can use the device as a set top box, connecting to an external screen (TV) via HDMI. the main problem with this, and i donīt know if only i have this problem, that no USB controller can be used with this. I think you can connect a wireless keyboard and use the device as a media center.

This is straight from the instructions.
"- While holding R&U, plug in the USB cable.
- Then press and hold the power button while continuing to hold R&U."

Press and hold the power button.

After holding the R&U button, I plug in the USB. The USB turns it on. I hold the power button. Mine shuts off every time.

If the Livesuit drivers dont correctly install on your PC, your device will turn off before livesuit detects the device in recovery mode and does the popup.  This happens on one of my PCs.  No matter how many times I re-apply the drivers, it simply wont detect and the device turns off while holding power.  However, if I do it on another PC, it works fine, every time.  Hence why I suggest try another computer if you have access to one.

If you have your speakers turned up, you will hear 3 USB connect/disconnect sounds if you are doing it right.  One connect as you plug in the USB, one disconnect as you continue to hold the power button, and then one more connect as the popup window opens on Livesuit.

1. After installing Super Script, i've noticed that Google search no longer works (it gives me "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped." error). Any ideas how to fix this?
2. Option 5 makes UI larger and also sets up Apex Launcher, right? Does it have any other pros compared to default settings?

I have read on some of the other game system forums that there is a way to map hardware buttons or "virtual button mapping".  Does anyone know if there is a way to port this over to the droid x360.  I would love to play some Grand Theft Auto with hardware buttons.

It is on JXD devices, but there is no app, it's "embedded" into the firm (and input driver), so no. But you can try gamekeyboard app in google store which is pretty much the same.

there is few software that can do the trick, but have some problems in ICS, and not working with many games.

the programs are GameKeyboard (Locnet) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.locnet.gamekeyboard&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5sb2NuZXQuZ2FtZWtleWJvYXJkIl0.) and USB/BT Joystick Center (Poke64738) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poke64738.usbjoy&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wb2tlNjQ3MzgudXNiam95Il0.)
Both are paid apps

some games works well with these software, but another cannot recognize the emulated touches.

i'm talking with the people of Locnet, trying to help them to solve these issues. if anybody can help me, please buy the app and give feedback to them.
in another hand, i try the same with USB/BT Joystick Center, but i donīt have much time and i cannot follow the issue i posted on his forum (http://poke64738.iphpbb3.com/forum/26454250nx52440/usb-bt-joystick-center-f10/problems-on-android-gaming-devicesyinlips-jxd-droid-etc-t342.html). if anybody have this software, please help me on these post to help the developer to get this software working for android game devices such Droid X360, and others (JXD, YINLIPS, etc)

and yes, there is another software, but only for JXD devices, called AndroidGameKey and works very well on his devices. Here you can see few videos of this software in action

Doesn't change anything but the DPI size.  Makes icons and text larger etc.  However, Apex Laucher has some significant improvements and options over the default launcher.  Check them out in the Apex Settings.  (There should be a shortcut from your homescreen after install).

Hey guys, another quick update today.

v0.5 allows your apps and emulators to run in a true fullscreen, temporarily removing the statusbar and virtual buttons.  I don't know about the rest of you, but this was one of my pet hates about the droid and now I feel like my emulators are a much more immersive experience.  No need to re-flash, just run the option to upgrade from v0.4.  Check it out and get back to me with any bugs.

Also, I'm going to start winding back the addition of new features to this script and start working on a custom livesuit image.  Please let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see included!

I will definitely try re-running then re-flashing when I have the time. By the way, I forgot to mention that I have new revision as it seems now. Its like on those screens provided in x360 droid's topic (http://micdigi.com/2012/09/the-enhanced-version-of-droid-x360/). Maybe they changed something which causes the script not to run as it should... (just my guess)

I have been able to get my tablet up and running again and I applied the current script to it. I really like the changes. Thank you. I had a question about a certain setting, though, that you ask us to enable.

The status bar disappears, as mentioned, and your fix is to select "smart screen mode" in the display settings. I have noticed that the status bar tends to disappear a lot after enabling this mode and if I don't apply the key patch that reassigns the start and select keys then I can't back out of anything after the status bar disappears, unless there is some gesture I'm unaware of. If I instead select the "official screen mode" will it keep the status bar displayed at all times?

Thank you again for all your hard work and from what I read you're working on a livesuit image. I look forward to seeing how you pull that off.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that the current copy of the script does not include the LivesuitPack_v107.exe and only has the Livesuit.exe which does nothing without all the other files included in the pack file.

That's correct.  Its a feature, not a bug.  The smart screen mode allows certain apps (such as the emulators) to disable the status bar and run fullscreen.  You can enable the setting however you please, I simply recommended it as that's the way that I prefer to play my emulators and games (fullscreen, without the status bar).  It should be said that many other apps (that may not necessarily require fullscreen) will also have this behavior so you should only use this setting with the button remap also enabled so that you can still exit apps (using the Start "HOME" button etc).  I've updated the OP to be a little more clear.

Thank you again for all your hard work and from what I read you're working on a livesuit image. I look forward to seeing how you pull that off.

In theory it shouldn't be that hard.  Extract the default firmware that Willgoo provided us.  Make the changes that the SuperScript makes.  Then re-compress back to an image file.  However I'm sure it will prove more difficult than it sounds lol.  ???

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that the current copy of the script does not include the LivesuitPack_v107.exe and only has the Livesuit.exe which does nothing without all the other files included in the pack file.

Thanks for pointing this out, that's my bad.  I'll sort this out asap.

Thank you for the reply. I had a feeling that was what the setting did. I couldn't find any documentation that referenced that setting anywhere. I did find a reference to a back and home gestures for other ICS tablets without buttons, but performing the gestures on this one didn't work. Is it possible to implement that kind of feature for those of us that don't want to reassign our select and start buttons but still want the benefit of the smart screen mode?

In regards to the livesuit image, would that require the use of the Android SDK emulator kit to do something like that, or is it possible to perform a full rom dump from the tablet itself after the changes are in place?

JXD s602 is full screen, or at least it is like "gingerbread". Applications goes full screen when they run.

I have no idea.  I would assume that there's gesture based apps available though.  I'll look into it when I get time.  However, keep in mind that reassigning your start and select buttons does not mean that you cant use them as start and select buttons in your emulators.  It simply adds the HOME and MENU functionality when you are using standard android apps or on the homescreen etc.

In regards to the livesuit image, would that require the use of the Android SDK emulator kit to do something like that, or is it possible to perform a full rom dump from the tablet itself after the changes are in place?

If you are asking about the custom rom I intend to make, most of the changes that the SuperScript makes are simply replacing system files so in theory I can simply replace these files in an "unzipped" (for lack of a better term) image and then "zip" it back up.

If you are interested in backing up your own rom after making changes, this currently isn't possible.  At least not until I can figure out CWM anyway...

I am here just to say thanks to TEHCRUCIBLE to make it possible!

No worries, glad to help.

Ah, my bad. I thought it would and then I would accidentally exit out of the emulator every time I paused the game. I might just patch it then. I do like the idea of the gestures though. I've heard of some gesture apps as well. I'll see what I can find that is free.

Also, how is everyone's battery life faring with this latest iteration of SuperScript?  Mine seems to be draining pretty quick and I'v trying to work out if its something in the Script or something I've done since.

I can't really comment. I've been having a battery issue. For no reason whatsoever while I'm using it it'll turn off and then when I try to start it up again it'll display a battery icon with an exclamation point, sometimes the battery displays 1% or 2% right before it shuts down. If I put it on the charger, for literally 45 seconds, it'll turn back on again with the correct battery percentage and resume like nothing happened. I discovered your script a day or two after I received my tablet, so I can't say whether it acts like that without the script. I've discussed the issue with someone I know that works on cellphones and they believe the battery is bad. I don't know though, it functions fine otherwise.

Battery does drain steadily with heavy wifi use, though.

Finally got the superscript to work on my droidx360. It took 3 computers for it to work.
My 2 home old computer with XP didn't wanna work. So I had to take it to work  & use
works computer with Windows 7 on for it to finally work.
Anyway thanks to all for putting this all together , and kept up the good work...

I have 0.4 and, if it helps, we can do a little test like fresh android start or launching same emulator or something else and just compare how long our devices will go on? (we will need to make identical conditions - like wi fi ON/OFF, cpu clock speed etc.) Then you will be able to tell what is changed from 0.4 to 0.5 and up if there is difference at all.

Mine device seems to go for about 2-3 hours of TigerVM Metal Slug 2 playing, wi fi on, cpu "stock")

TehCrucible, maybe you can help me with this issue. I can't get the Voice Search working, I press on the microphone icon and it shows up a message saying that the Voice Search application stopped.

I've found a VoiceSearch.apk that works (I'm not sure if I can share it here, any interested PM me), but after a reboot it's broken again.

Do you know what can I do? I really need the funcionality, not the VoiceSearch itself, but the SpeechRecognizer service it uses. It's for an application I made for work that uses voice commands to trigger some actions, and it works when the VoiceSearch works.

hello all, very new here obviously. Just got my x360 and having issues :( could be my computer but i don't have access to another one to try but I can't get the livesuit process to work. First the readme that refers to a "LiveSuitPack_v1.07" can't find that. There is a "LiveSuitPack105_ex" and ran that. Had livesuit running and have tried several times to flash the device. Holding the r&u button, plugging it in then holding the power button and nothing happens.

Am I missing something? Do I need to install the device driver first?

Thanks in advance. Really looking forward to seeing what this can really do.

Cheers

edit: an interesting note, even tho i've not done the script i do actually have access to the google play store. facebook apps and what seems to be everything else as well

yeah you should have installed the ADB driver for the device first. and when you go to flash in livesuit you also need to have the  factory DX360 image already selected in the program if that makes any sense. at least thats what works for me. hope that helps

I think i have the driver installed... how long should I have to hold down the power and r&u buttons to tell if it has worked or not?
Title: Re: DROID X360 Super Script - Various Tweaks & Fixes
Post by: Dr. Light on October 06, 2012, 11:32:20 pm
you can tell if you have the driver installed or not by looking in the device manager. you can also run option "1" of the script and it will let you know if you are connected to the device. but to flash the factory image, make sure you have livesuite opened and the image you want to flash loaded then:
1. unplug the dx360 and turn it off
2. hold down the r/u button, (make sure you feel it click when you push it in)
3. while holding the r/u button plug in the usb cable
-your pc will let you know you've connected something
4. a small window should pop up in the program, click ok
    - its going to ask you about format mode or upgrade mode
5. click format mode, itll ask you are you sure, click yes
-usually takes a couple of minutes then you're done.

hope i didn't leave anything out, that was all pretty much from memory. let us know if you get it!

Hello, maybe in this thread will help me :'(

I set the firmware from willgoo, set the script from this topic, I tried to overclock the CPU via setcpu (mode: perfomance; frequency maximum \ minimum: 1200 \ 66), the the display goes off. Tried rebooting - infinite loading (android in blue square). Sew through livesuite - the process of firmware is successful, but when you turn there is no change (infinite load). I thought that the problem in bootloader, but flashing by phoenixcard changed nothing.

I hope for your help, thank you.

p.s. Sorry for my grammar, I do not speak in English.

you cannot overclock to 1,2GHz

take care of your device, you may damage if you insist on overclock it to 1,2GHz

mine, can work at 1.152MHz. if i try to up this overclock value, mine device restart.

you can test starting from 1GHz, and DONīT CHECK "Set on boot" Option. Use this when you get sure about the maximium speed that your device can be overclocked.

greetings!

There is no any software updated for X360 except the Ram- updated to 1GB.

So the script can work on the new version.

You can try it.

You said and shown the upgraded droid is with the same name, same shell. But elsewhere on the net there is a device called IDROID as the successor of the droid. So which is the original, and which is the clone?

Just an update.. Spent quite awhile trying dozens of solutions people had posted online, and none seemed to work to get it to flash. So I just skipped it, and ran the script. Worked beautifully, and I couldn't be happier. I'm not sure what aspects flashing it would help with, but I have absolutely no complaints anymore about this device right now. Script is 10/10. :)

The Droid X360 is no longer the same one, furthermore after having "manually" solved the crosspad issue.

Many thanks TehCrucible !!! ;-)

Though i am still looking to make a USB pad to work with this, haven't found any solution yet, because it renders pretty well now on my LCD.

I have a Genius MaxFire (this one (http://www.360bin.com/images/detailed/11/0113020026074d9afbafdc6d3.jpg)) and it works without problems. I've tested N64oid and everything works fine, the analogs can be mapped and they are recognized as true analogs.

But I'm not sure if they're available, I bought two some years ago.

Microsoft XBOX360 USB controller / PS3 controller didn't work. PSX --> USB adapter also worked but I got this one 10+ years ago so it must be unavailable.

In order to get PS3 and 360 pads working, you would need to compile some modules to be loaded at every boot. You can try the ones I made for Skelrom for The Yinlips g16 (it's an allwinner a10 too, and probably use the same 3.08+ kernel)

As promised, I've been working on a complete custom rom for the X360. If anyone else has any feature requests, let me hear them now.  My aim is to keep the as close to AOSP as possible, with simply performance and compatibility tweaks, not so much visual or customization etc.

Here you go:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/69559458/modulesforDroid.rar

Just try with one making an insmod, if it's loaded, then you can add them to kernel via init.rc or just loading via init.d for instance.

Cheers mate.  I had another question that perhaps you could help me with, being that you've done work with allwinner previously.

I'm having trouble with the volume buttons not working to select items within recovery.  (Its like this from stock.)  I have found the section in sys_config.fex where I can change what button is used to access recovery on boot (allthough I havn't had time to try it yet)  however, I'm pretty convinced the buttons still wont work once I boot into cwm.

Have you ever seen this issue before?  Perhaps the sun4i_keyboard.ko module (or Generic.kl mapping) is not loading at boot when booting recovery?  (It seems the only key that responds is the power button as select, and only after adding the corresponding line to my make files when building cwm).

This is the last piece of the puzzle to getting cwm working on this device.

EDIT:  By the way, to continue our discussion from the other thread, the kernel is 3.0.8+ on this firmware.
Title: Re: DROID X360 Super Script - Various Tweaks & Fixes
Post by: skelton on January 25, 2013, 10:26:44 pm

I never needed to modify the keys for the g16 recovery. Not sure that can be done easily editing the fex. And I am not sure if loading the module makes effect, because in the Yinlips wasn't needed (ioc,ko).
Probably you need to change them in source, If I remember well there should be a file called defualt_recovery_keys or somethink like that.
But since I never had to change them, not sure.
Another option is trying to make a touch CWM, adding the screen module of your system, but never compiled one, so not sure how to do it.

Have you tried with one of the pre-built ones? Like the Christian troyĄs one for instance?

Thanks for the help, I'll check it out.

I did try Christian Troys build but the X360 uses a weird partition/nand layout.  I got it working in the end but the volume keys still didnt work correctly.  I found it easier to just compile from source using the stock recovery as reference.

It's looking more and more like touch cwm is the way to go, I guess.  Thanks again.  Now just to find some spare time to look try it....  ???

Just got my iDroid X360 (the 8GB one Willgo sells now).  When I try to follow step one of the super script, I run into a problem.  Everything goes smoothly up to putting my X360 into firmware restore mode.  I click "yes" and "yes" in Livesuite to do a format restore, but instead of the progress bar slowly filling up, it flashes 20% briefly then goes back to 0%.  It seems like Livesuite is no longer doing anything.  I leave it to sit, but nothing happens.  Resetting and rebooting the iDroid gets me back into android, but nothing has been erased.  What am I doing wrong?  Is there a separate firmware file for the 8GB iDroid?

You are both using the wrong firmware file. Yes, there is a different firmware for iDroid.  You will need to download it either from willgoo or try this one. (http://9giga.sfr.fr/n/50-26/f/640548415/deflate/no/)

Technically, you don't need to do a re-install of your firmware.  The script is designed to run from a fresh install but you could just do a factory restore on the device to achieve the same effect.  However, being able to recover with livesuit is very handy should anything ever go wrong.

I just recently bought the x360 from Willgoo this past month. I searched online and found the Droid X360 superscript page describing an update to the x360. I applied the img file and found that my x360 touch screen stopped working. Stupid me I should have looked at the back of my x360 which had 'iDroid' labelled on the back. The new image doesn't work for the iDroid which I believe was mentioned in the original post. I did a frantic search on the internet and was able to find the original firmware for the iDroid x360. If anyone else finds them self in a similar situation email me and I can put the firmware up on a public share.
